I'd Kill For A Flawless Complexion

Every time I get stressed out, my skin will be the first to give way. *Sigh*

I used to have great skin up till I was 13 years old. And then all hell broke loose.

On the other hand I remember a classmate who had a face full of volcanic pimples when she was only seven years old. Of course her parents took her everywhere looking for a cure and a cure they found. Later when we all were reaching puberty and suffered from stupid skin breakouts, she was the one with perfect skin.

I would rather be the one with a face full of spots at seven, rather than at seventeen, but I have no such luck.

Then I read somewhere that the zits will go off once I reach 21 years old. And I stupidly believed it. The mind is so powerful, it believes what it wants. So, despite my spotty face, I was unconcerned.

Now it's so many years since I turned 21, and it's still causing a problem. Spots break out when I am stressed, when I do not have enough rest, when I am out in the sun for long (or short) hours, and just about any bloody excuse!

Arghh I am too old to suffer from spots!

Love Is In The Air With LoopyLove

I recently joined LoopyLove.com, a large, established online dating website based in the United Kingdom, can you believe it? Haha well, there's always a first time.

From the first look it's a rather simple website, because you'd need to register yourself for free in order to access all the juicy stuff.

Since this company is based in the United Kingdom, most of the members are naturally from the UK as well, but they do have an international database. Like me, I am Malaysian in Malaysia, and yet my membership was approved instantly.

To register is very simple. All you need is your basic personal particulars, like name, e-mail address, your desired online ID and password. You can edit your self-description and interests as you go along later.

And you can also upload your photos. The more photos you upload, the better you can attract attention. PLUS, you will be awarded with credits that you can use to contact other members.

For example, sending a message to another member uses 500 Credits while receiving one, whether opened or unopened uses 2,500 Credits. However, replying to a message is free. Whheee

If you want to send lots of messages, you have to take out a ONE, THREE or TWELVE month membership subscription on LoopyLove. You will be entitled to send unlimited number of messages during your membership period, then.

Now, if you do not invest on membership, there is not another easiest way you can increase your chances of contacting and meeting your perfect match on LoopyLove.

Well, if you do not wish to fork out your money, you can earn Credits by uploading more images for 100 Credits each or by recording a voice greeting which will earn you 500 Credits when you activate the GreetingCode in My Profile.

If you are still single like me, there is no harm in trying LoopyLove and
find love in the UK, right?

Heartbroken

I wrote this more than five years ago. How time flies. I know it's corny, but it's good to share and laugh over my silly poetry.

A long time ago,
I treated you like gold.
By you, I was charmed,
In the end, was harmed.

Satisfied being your prisoner,
My love, like a Bunsen burner.
I relished the heat,
It made me upbeat.

Problems began unexpectedly.
Why, I don’t comprehend fully.
To you, was most devoted,
Yet our separation resulted.

I was heartbroken
After your piece was spoken.
On me you turned your back,
As I fell to my knees and begged

I Hate Guys!

Yesterday, I received a gift from a friend. He placed the gift inside a Nokia 8210 box. At first glance, it looked like he was giving me a mobile phone, but unless he lives in Timbuktu where MAYBE Nokia 8210 is the latest model, then it would be that misleading.

Luckily I was not tricked. Haiihh why guys so insensitive wan? Thank God he did not pack the gift in a LG Pink Chocolate box, or I would have gotten a heart attack already! LOL too bad he doesn't know about this blog, or he would have gotten the hint that I HEART LG Pink Chocolate :-)

I hate guys. They give us things that we do not need. When we need something (non-material things) really bad and drop clues here and there, they don't get the hint AND THEN GO AND GET US SOMETHING THAT THEY LIKE/WANT.

An example:
Just because guys like ipod, doesn't mean I like too. I like LG Pink Chocolate!
Just because guys like PS3, doesn't mean I like too. I LIKE LG Pink Chocolate!!
Just because guys like power tools, doesn't mean I like too. I LIKE LG PINK Chocolate!!
Just because guys like some other stupid electronic gadgets, doesn't mean I like too. I LIKE LG PINK CHOCOLATE!!!!

So dense. DUH!

Giving Thanks

Yesterday was Thanksgiving Day, well, at least it was in the United States. As soon as it was past midnight, my friend called me up and asked me if I had turkey yet.

Hello, where got people in the world eat turkey at that ungodly hour wan? Even if I celebrated, I also will have turkey at a saner hour, like dinner time lah.

So anyway, although I do not celebrate Thanksgiving, I do take a bit of time off to reflect on the things that has happened to me in the past year, and give thanks for the good things in life, while trying to shrug off the bad things as God's test.

It is said that the poorest person in the United States is many times more wealthy than 80% of the rest of the world. So maybe the poorest person in Malaysia is many times more wealthy than, let's say, 50% of the rest of the world. Can ah?

I don't know how true this is, but riches in life isn't only measured by how full our bank account is.

Thanksgiving is a day I take a moment off to be thankful of what I have, and not think of or pine for what I lack.

Give thanks and we will see a whole new world that is around us everyday.

Spotting and Avoiding Mortgage Fraud

A house may be important to the family, but a home loan mortgage is one of the burdens I am not willing to undertake. It's very difficult for me to see myself committed to something, even if it's property, for that length of years.

But to keep myself informed and abreast of mortgage fraud and avoid falling into these traps, I do read up on
mortgage loan.

www.personalhomeloanmortgages.com has an extensive mortgage directory that is very useful plus an active forum and informative articles that will benefit me should I pluck up the courage to commit myself to a home loan.

I wouldn't want to be caught unaware by hidden fees or the lack of transparency of important information in the borrowing process, would I?

They Write The Songs That Make The Whole World Sing

Years ago, I really enjoyed a Chinese song that was sung by many big name Hong Kong singers for charity, much like the song We Are The World, with America's greatest pop stars, calling themselves Voices For Africa and coming together, collaborating for free to raise funds for Africa.

And being Chinese illiterate, till today, I don't even know the name of the song, but I was sent the video on YouTube recently, which I'm very thankful.

The explanation of the video, and who sang which part, are in THIS POST, which unfortunately I can't read.

As a comparison, here is the video for We Are The World.

After twenty years, these two songs can still move me. I can feel the raw emotions in the songs. Can you? They really do write songs that make the whole world sing.

Life, it's been said, is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

New Blogroll! Want a Link Up?

I've added some more blogs that I hop to occasionally in my blog roll. These are what I can remember off-hand, and I will be adding more as I recall them. You know something happened to my memory lately, and I don't even bookmark blogs in my browser, so yeah, these are what I have for the time being.

I usually just compile a list then only edit my template. I'm so lazy to just edit and add one each time. Too much work to do. I may even be adding the blogs of commentors on my blog. This is another way for me to discover new blogs, instead of depending on PPS solely.

Or, if anyone wishes to have a link up with me, just drop me a comment lor.

Cheerio!

There are many people with good voices but find it difficult to make a living out of being a singer. There can only be so many Britney Spears or Russell Watson.

The enterprising ones have managed to make a transition from actors and musicians to a successful career in
voiceover.

In fact, being a voice talent is so much more challenging than being just a singer.

The Voice Actor Blog strives to educate people about voiceovers with interesting and educational articles, talent search and job opportunities.

What a Mess!

I've been terribly busy, I haven't got time for anything else and definitely not in the mood for anything else. I'm sorry if I've neglected you or haven't replied to your e-mail.

It's funny, a friend asked me recently, "When have you ever got the mood for anything?" Oh well, he just doesn't understand. Nobody ever does!

Somehow, I've been having this sickening feeling in me since a few days ago. Sort of like a sense of foreboding. My other monkey's health problems didn't help matters.

And the fact that someone came and asked me for a loan and I have no choice but to concede to his request, made things worse. It's not that I cannot spare the money for him, but he has just been classified by me, as being "Hopeless". I hate to say this, but this loan has confirmed it.

Yes, he is indeed "hopeless" and he f***ing has to come and mess up MY life!

Christmas Brings Nostalgic Memories

I used to celebrate Christmas joyously but since two years ago, my grandmother, the matriarch of the family, passed away and Christmas is never the same again.

Christmas is coming soon and I'm once again feeling nostalgic.
Every year, we used to put up a really tall green plastic Christmas tree at my grandmother's house and all the grandchildren will help to decorate it with shiny balls, lights, stars, mistletoe, popcorn and even
Christmas Elves!

While the adults will be busy getting ready food and best of all, Christmas presents for all the kids!

ANOTHER Monkey at the Vet

I was at the vet this morning (so what's new, eh?) and guess what I saw? ANOTHER monkey! This monkey is so much cuter than my two and this one is 100 times more naughty, but one look at her, you just can't get angry with her. She is so forgivable looking *melt*

I wish I have a digicam so that I could take a pix of her. *sigh* a missed chance...

But this pix will have to do for now. I so need a digital camera, to be a full-fledged blogger!

Losing total respect is when ....

....... people come to you for a four-figure loan, knowing full well you have non-negotiable commitments to meet monthly; like a four-figure debt repayment programme or the MYR300 monkey feed; not forgetting subsidising monthly household expenses and saving whatever's left in case of emergency for the monkeys. Let's just think of that as insurance. And there isn't anything left for myself. And some people wonder why I have gastric!

So well, you tell me do I still have mood for anything else? And yet people got the thick skin to ask me for a loan. Unbelievable!

And I f**king can't refuse! This kinda relationship, I'm gonna one day "one slash two pieces" and dump into the river. I can and will do it if I'm pushed far enough.

The Exorcism of Emilyna Rosmawar

Those who have been following this blog will know that I am a little fascinated by supernatural or paranormal stuff that can't be explained scientifically. So my friend knows me so well that he sent me a video from YouTube, and it is quite eerie.

I know this is an old video and in fact I've already watched it for some time but I was lazy to search for the link.

Anyway, "enjoy" lah!

Comments are welcomed!

Spy Gadgets Make Great Gifts For Him

Many of my girlfriends were asking me what gifts to give to their partners this Christmas and I told them, since James Bond is on the lips of almost everybody now, why not get him what all guys will like: SPY GADGETS?

Believe me, any of these boy's toys will make a great Gift for him. Even I, a girl, am amazed at the things that can be found on BrickHouseSecurity and feel like owning some of these products.

I think the
Fiber Lens Scope Viewer will make a perfect gift for him. It will bring out the voyeur in him and he'll definitely love you for it!

Check it out for yourself what it is used for *wink* *wink*

But if the Fiber Lens Scope Viewer at US$326.40 is out of your budget, the Pen Spy Scope will also make a great gift. BrickHouseSecurity is selling this at $43.50 only!

And then I saw this Check Mate Semen Detection Test Kit which I think will be a bad idea as a gift. We don't want him to use this kit on us *horror* or go around the house testing here and there *gasp* but this will still make a great gift, though only to guys who are not our partners!!

Old School Mate + Failing Memory = Embarrassment

Today I was in town and went on my usual way when someone asked me, "Are you so-and-so?" So I said, "Yeah," and realised that she was one of my schoolmates.

Wow, I can't believe that she could still recognise me after all these years. It has been eons since we left school and don't tell me I did not change? I know I am so much older now *sigh*

But she, on the other hand, is so much slimmer than I remember her to be, and even more beautiful, if that is possible.

So we made small talk, but all the time, I was mentally scratching my head, trying hard to recall her name, and for the life of me, I did not have any clue. And how could I ask when she can remember mine, and I can't hers? That would be very embarrassing to both of us.

Anyway, I felt so awkward. When I reached home, I straightaway dug out my 101 school magazine which was published when I was in Form Four. Yep, I saw her photo. Oh her name is this. She was in the last class, no wonder I do not have a lasting impression of her. So embarrassing, man!

And this isn't the first time it has happened to me. Sometimes when these old friends see my puzzled look, they offered me their names LOL

I wonder if their memory is THAT good or if it is because I still look the same as when I was in Secondary school! Can't be, right?

2 SMRT 4 U ~ Online Safety :: A Community Message

Since being exposed to blogging about six months ago, and started reading local blogs through Petaling Street Project, I have been amazed at the boldness of some bloggers who have no qualms about publishing photos of themselves, friends and family, and also leaving contact details like instant messenger IDs and private e-mail addresses in a public blog.

I even came across one girl blogger (maybe there are more) who posted her mobile number on her blog. It may be a prepaid number but from 15th December, 2006 onwards, there will be no difference between a prepaid or postpaid line in terms of ease in obtaining personal information of the owner.

I have mentioned quite a few times on my own blog and through chatting with fellow bloggers about my concern, but they seem unperturbed.

Call me paranoid, but in this world, one never know what sort of people are around us, and what are their intentions, until it is too late.

Today, I came across this programme called Teen Online Safety :: 2 SMRT 4 U, and I feel it is my duty to help spread the message across in whatever small way I possible can.

Image courtesy of Teen Online Safety

According to a survey done in March 2006, 71% of teens receive messages online from someone they don’t know. While this is probably a research carried out on American teens, and the target of this campaign is towards teenagers, I do not see how far off the mark it is for other website or blog owners. And being older doesn't mean that we will not be gullible or susceptible to such contact.

2 SMRT 4 U has a page dedicated to the DOs and Don'ts of creating an online presence and what or who we should be cautious of. If you come across cyber predators, REPORT THEM.

For comprehensive information, please read THIS PAGE. Happy SAFE Blogging!

Putting in 19 - 20 Work Hours a DAY

After the stupid incident with my neighbour who has the nerve to offer me a RM600/month job (oh my god - small *g* for god - I still can't believe it!), three days ago, I have been putting in 19 - 20 working hours A DAY.

On one hand, I know I'm gonna kill myself pushing myself like this, on the other hand, I can't let him see me losing.

So I was telling my friend about this episode, and wondered to him, "Am I only worth RM600 a month?"

And he told me, "No one has the right to place a value on others. Only you know your true worth. Each person has his own skills and you have your own."

Ah... the beauty of friends!

Nick Portokalos: Don't let your past dictate who you are, but let it be part of who you will become.
Toula Portokalos: Nick that's beautiful.
Nick Portokalos: Yeah that dear Abby really knows what she's talking about.

When I Grow Up, I Wanna Be A Problogger!

During my parents' time, right after Form Five or the most, Form Six, the girls would fight to get into teaching or nursing while the boys would try their best to get into the uniform bodies like the army, navy or air force. That's because trainees were given a healthy monthly allowance.

In those days when times were so tough, only the rich kids could afford a tertiary education as soon as they completed Form Six. There aren't many local universities around and to get a degree, most need to go overseas. Most people only can put themselves through university whilst holding a full-time job.

For people of my generation, where obtaining a tertiary education is so much easier for many people, what with the booming economy, the bullish stock market, and with the 2 + 1 and later 3 + 0 twinning degree programmes and the mushrooming of local universities, many were able to achieve their ambitions of becoming doctors, accountants, lawyers, etc. In short, to be "professionals".

I remember when I was in primary school, we were required to give the class teacher our top three ambitions. We were so young, we don't even know what is AMBITION, what is CITA-CITA? And when we were told that it means what do we want to work as when we grow up, we will go, "Oh, I want to be a teacher, like you!"

Five years from now, I envision children of the new generation telling the teachers that their ambition is to be probloggers!

How To Survive On RM600 per Month?

Today, a neighbour of mine, a doctor, stopped at my house, and asked me if I wanted to work as his clinic nurse and offered me RM600 per month, due to my inexperience. And we still have yet to deduct EPF and what-not.

Oh my goodness, I felt so insulted. What does he think I am to offer me RM600? That's even worse than a maid's salary.

How can I survive on RM600 a month when my monkeys already need RM300 a month. With a balance of RM300, transport will require RM4 a day commuting to and from work, and then let's say breakfast and dinner on my parents at home, lunch will require about RM4 a day.

And that leaves RM60 balance a month. Is it worth it or not?

Years ago, a doctor whom my family knows also offered me RM20 a day to be his clinic nurse cum receptionist. Oh my God...it was already LOW then, and now it's gonna be 2007 in less than two months, and it's still this rate? Maybe doctors don't know about inflation?

Or maybe professionals are over smart. It's said that this race's one sen is larger than the wheel of a bullock cart. Sadly, but truly.

They Won't Let Me Watch Flushed Away!

A few short hours ago, I was at the Golden Screen Cinemas in my cowtown. I wanted to watch Flushed Away but was told that they will only screen it with a minimum of five people watching.

As luck would have it, there I was, the only one who wanted to watch it, with another fifteen minutes to go till its supposed screening time.

And since I was already there, I thought I might as well watch SOMETHING, and so I did. Bah!

Why liddat? Does anyone know of this ruling of the cinema not screening a movie if there were less than five patrons?

I don't like to watch a movie during peak times and never on a weekend. I should have gone on Wednesday, which is Ladies' Night. MAYBE there would have been more patrons for
Flushed Away, it is was still screening, that is.

I remember a long time ago, I went for
Spiderman 2, and the cinema was packed. The lady in front of me sneezed non-stop throughout the 1.5 hours. Unfortunately, there was not a single empty seat. So I was stuck there like, FOREVER.

I came home and straightaway fell ill. I go to the cinema for a good time and not to pick up a virus. BAH!!

Upgraded to Blogger Beta

After some long months, I have finally upgraded to Blogger beta. The delay was due to password issues. I have crossed my Blogger password with Gmail so it was very troublesome to log in and out just to reset the passwords. Anyway, it's finally done.

And now I have to find my way around the control panel again. I find it a waste of time to relearn something. I prefer familiarity. I have the logic of "Don't fix it if it ain't broken."

What to do? Now my blog seems quite difficult to load and I can't return to the old Blogger (non-beta). Just like how now I hate Windows Live and Yahoo! Photos. So damn hard to load with the crappy Streamyx.

And by the way, I have done away with word verification. I wanted to take it off a long time ago, but I couldn't as I have changed my template and had problems turning word verification off. The only way to go about it was to edit the code, which I have no idea how to do.

Moreover, the one thing that I wanted in Blogger beta is CATEGORY, but it seems that I can only have it if I upgrade my template. That will mean I have to forgo my current template, which I like very much and spent ages tweaking it to just the way I want it.

I guess I will now be spending the next couple of days just labeling all the old posts. I hope you guys have no issues with this "upgrade".

The Ups & The Downs

The Ups:
1. Monkeys are better. Let's hope they stay this way.
2. Received USD9.31 (less service charge) for my ad on my blog. My first payment for copywriting on my blog.
3. Finally got a long needed haircut but it's bloody expensive.
4. Share price is down MYR0.10 (excluding commission) ONLY. Was down MYR0.30 last Thursday. When is the bull returning?
5. Repaid some sleep debt these past 2 days. An extra hour a night is good enough for a start.

The Downs:
1. Fatty monkey is afraid of thunderstorm now. He was OK for the last 12 years, why now suddenly?
2. My haircut looks fugly cos the hairdresser doesn't know what I want and kept correcting, until my hair is so short now. From waist length to collarbone, you say feel naked or not?
3. Somebody in NYC can't make it back on time for my birthday. Can only come back after Thanksgiving, might as well DON'T COME BACK.
4. Somebody booked me as tour guide but I don't want to do.
5. A lot of down time, non-productivity at work. Wasted.

Aiyak

I just remembered that I have to go to the photo studio to take a digital photo to apply for some official stuff. I was supposed to apply for it in early October but I totally forgot about it. I'm rather forgetful nowadays, so what's new? The closing date is early December. One month gone already. It's fortunate that I even remember it in time.

I hate taking these kinda studio photos for MyKad, passport, driving licence and whatever legal documents. They look like photos on "Wanted" posters. It's stupid to look straight ahead, unsmiling, with ears sticking out.

Before I went to change my IC to MyKad, my friends told me that the staff there are very friendly, they let us check our photos and if we're satisfied then only proceed with processing of application. If we think it's ugly, then we can ask for another photo to be taken.

However, when I went, I asked to see if my photo was OK or not, but that lady clerk told me, "OK la, Ok la, cantik." She won't even let me have a look. Obviously I wasn't happy with the outcome when I saw the photo on the other counter that processes our application form. But it was too late already.

I was even thinking of not going to collect the MyKad when it was ready; let them fine me RM100, so that I can reapply, and with a new (and hopefully better) photo. hahaha childish thinking, no? So now I'm stuck with a stupid MyKad. I hope they will call for another compulsory change soon.

If you have been following my blog, you know how little sleep I have been getting for the past 5 months. You can look at the time of some of my posts, ungodly hours.... and I have to wake up latest by 8am daily. Damn dreams also not yet come. No more nightmares too. I'm so tired, I can sleep standing like chicken. Oh yeah, I also lost 5kg. AND I LOOK LIKE SHIT and don't have enough time to recover!

*Sigh* another ugly pix is in the making........*pout*

Clarification On Blog Sponsorship

Beginning yesterday, this blog started to publish sponsored posts.

A sponsored post may or may not be identified. Those that are identified will have a screenshot of the sponsor's website header image, written in a quote box and in a different font colour. All these self-imposed rules will be adhered to if and when I remember.

If a sponsored post is not identified, it is because the item is in line with my blog's theme.

A sponsored post that is subsequently rejected by the advertiser or failure to receive payment from them will cause that particular post to be deleted.

Sponsorship can motivate me into blogging more often, otherwise I will lose interest. I am sorry I have to compromise on the quality of my blog but don't worry, I will not compromise on the quality of my original posts, if there was any in the first place.

I apologise to my faithful readers for the inconvenience caused and I thank you for your understanding.

Bianne (sorry in Korean).

Blog Housekeeping & Random Jottings

After six months blogging here, it was time to do some housekeeping, so I deleted some of the useless stuff on the sidebar which I thought was useful but they did nothing but clutter up the place.

I've added RSS feed to this blog. I've also added music, but you'd have to click on the PLAY button, on either end of the bar. Thanks to _butt for introducing Lifelogger to me. So I got my friend to register, cos I hate to register with so many sites, I keep forgetting my passwords. So anyway, now I have a song, and I have also added her syndication of blogs on the side bar, in exchange. Please visit her blogs. Thank you.

I hope you'll enjoy my selection of songs. It was my childhood dream to be a DJ. I don't know why, but I love radio a lot. Obviously, I did not get to realise my ambition *sigh*

November is a bad month for me. Most of my friends are November babies. There are almost 10 birthdays of close friends, and also numerous not so close ones. This year I am quite lucky as one of them is in New Zealand, one in Australia and one in PeeJay on work trips. Luckily for me *phew* Otherwise, I really pokkai. Just send them e-card will do. Free wan. :-)

If last month I looked like a witch, now I look like an old witch, the ones we see in fairy tales, with dishevelled long hair, wearing a cone-shaped hat and riding a broom. I don't know how I'm gonna play host to my friend who will be bringing his family for a visit this school holidays and another friend is coming back after Thanksgiving, another booked me for after Chinese New Year.

I better start taking care of my looks and try to get rid of the eye bags from now onwards before they think I am a bomb victim. That's the result of sleeping less than five hours a night.

This is so .... Quaint

I was talking to a friend about how long I have delayed replying my pen-pal's letter. It was received in January this year and it's now November. By the way, my pen-pal's a policewoman in the Czech Republic. It's a wonder she did not lodge a missing person's report.

So my friend was surprised that there's still people writing LETTERS. *gasp* He said pen-palling is "so quaint". The word "quaint" itself is so quaint. Not many people use it anymore.

I do sometimes wonder how many people still take the time to write letters and get it sent through the post. It's a bit of a hassle compared to e-mailing. And with instant messenger, we can just chat a bit now and then, so what's the point of airmail letters, anyway? But it's never the same. Each pen-pal's letter has his/he scent. E-mail is so sterile. And I don't IM my pen-pals and only send them the occasional e-mail.

So that conversation led me to wonder what happened to the company that I bought pen-pals from. It seems that my friend also used their service. Anyway I Googled "International Youth Service", and oh my, they are still actively serving school children the world over.

Browsing through their website brought back many fond memories. I started pen-pal at the age of 11 after being introduced to IYS by my brother's classmate.

I bought a lot of addresses from them because correspondence between my pen-pals and I kept breaking off after one or two letters. Some never even respond at all. We were too young and don't have much to write. I remember reading letters from a pen-pal whose mother corrected his grammar. And my mom would correct HIS letters, because my mom was afraid I'd pick up bad grammar, not that it's any good now.

And I remember receiving a letter from a boy by the name of Happy from India. I was very happy (indeed) because it was unexpected, but my parents killed the joy by returning the letter to sender with the remark, "No such person."

My parents have this sick thinking that I will marry my pen-pal. They disallow us to write to anybody in Malaysia. That's why I don't have any local pen-pal. And they told us to use false names. But I remember my mom saying that we can change our names to anything at all, but must retain our surname. The surname is very important to the Chinese.

If that is not enough, I told each person a different birth date. I imagined myself getting a birthday present every month, but of course that never happened. School kids don't have spare cash for gifts, let alone a greeting card.

As the pen-palship continued, I felt very guilty, but I had no avenue to rectify that lie. That's why I learned not to lie anymore, because it is always harder that speaking the truth in the first place.

Even then, IYS had this "buy 10 free 1 address" promotion, and I would solicit my friends to buy so that I could get the free address. Subsequently, I never had to buy any, but I did the "dirty work" of buying bank draft and sending the applications to this company in Turku, Finland. Actually, it was my mom who helped me do all these.

And when IYS sent the package of addresses to me, I kept all the forms, stickers, address books, etc. Because I had all the forms, it was always me who helped my friends to buy from IYS. They had no chance until IYS sent each person ONE application form. I was evil.

A few years down the road, I was featured in a BBC programme called "Pop Pal" where the DJ will read out a letter every week. I was so excited to receive a whole bag of letters from BBC the first time, but upon opening, there were so many letters from AFRICA! Bah... I cut out all the stamps and traded with other pen-pals. I still have those letters even now. I need to seriously declutter one of these days.

And then for some time my Filipina pen-pal and I were busy signing and making Friendship Books. I wonder if anyone has seen these before. When I was very busy I just stopped signing, and didn't even send them out. I think I still have one whole envelop of these somewhere.

It was a coincidence that through IYS, I was matched with my German pen-pal while he was also matched with me. That's why we have written to each other for 15 years already.

Now I have less than five pen-pals and we only write sporadically and only on special occasions like birthdays an Christmases. Sigh... those were the days.
