Acne & Accutane

If you know of anyone who is suffering from Accutane injury, do inform the patient that there is recourse thanks to an ongoing Accutane Lawsuit by O’Hanlon, McCollum & Demerath where experienced attorneys are doing their best seek compensation for patients affected by Accutane.

From what I read, side effects of Accutane include inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. These sound like extremely painful conditions of the colon and digestive tract. And it's quite shocking to know that were prescribed with Accutane to treat severe nodular acne but the effects could be devastating.

Anyone affected by Accutane should talk to the attorneys at O’Hanlon, McCollum & Demerath. I believe they offer free consultation.

I'm Seriously Upset

I received a job offer from an internet start-up company for RM4500 per month with accommodation provided for the first few months and use of a company car after work hours and on weekends with petrol consumption on myself. Although everyone tells me that the pay is good, I don't look at how much I earn but at the opportunity to be more independent. I would be away from my family for the first time and it would be a good thing for them and for me. We need to learn to grow apart from each other.

So I was very happy to have this opportunity even though I didn't even apply for a job and didn't expect it to come like this. The founder of the dot com start up invited me to visit his office to meet his team of people and I was agreeable. Of course I would have to make some sort of arrangements first before starting work, right?

Anyway, I told a good friend about it and he is totally against me working with this company. It upsets me a lot because it gives me a very bad feeling that he is poisoning my mind with all his negative talk and to me, he is killing the chance that have come my way.

All my life, I have had to bend backwards to accommodate people and because it's my nature to avoid confrontations, I do try to please everyone. However, once again, I am feeling as if I am being walked all over and although I may do what others tell me to do, I won't like it and will forever hold a grudge against that person for lost opportunities.

I remember many years ago, I had wanted to work in Singapore at a bank. Back it, it was a very popular thing to do. My father was against me going to Singapore and gave me plenty of poison words. He also stopped me from taking up an opportunity with Palace of the Golden Horses. I don't understand why, until today, that he was so selfish that he didn't let go of me when as a parent, he should have encouraged me and not thwart my chances. Those could have been turning points in my life.

And now, after one big cycle, after I thought that with the death of my pets, I didn't have the responsibility of caring for them anymore, I could finally be my own person, I CAN'T!

Christmas Is Over

Phew, I am so glad that Christmas is over and done with. You wouldn't believe how stressed out I was thinking of gifts to get for friends and family. I guess because of work, I ended up not being able to shop for gifts as early as I should. However, a friend gave me an idea of gifting custom usb drives and helped to take care of a lot of people on my gift list!

It's funny that every year near Christmas time, I would vow to allow myself more time to shop for meaningful gifts NEXT YEAR but I guess I never learn my lesson. Maybe it's a better idea to start collecting gifts throughout the year and only spend time wrapping them up just before Christmas? LOL

Horrific Camerons Bus Crash

I am horrified reading about the double-decker tour coach that crashed coming down from Cameron Highlands where the driver lost control of it, crashed into the divider, plowed onto the other side of the road and landed in the ditch. 27 people have died in this accident only a few survived the crash. The only lucky thing about this is that the bus did not crash into other road used on the other side of the road. Otherwise, it would be a whole lot worse.

I am horrified by the number of deaths and also the fact that I have contemplated visiting Cameron Highlands but am postponing my trip because of heavy rainfall at the end of the year. Maybe it will be more conducive to travel around Chinese New Year time when the weather will supposedly be dry but then one can hardly tell due to global warming.

Also, I have been travelling by express coach so many times now to Kuala Lumpur, it is just scary to think of any one of my bus trips would end up in a ditch. Being careful is one thing but when we are travelling by public transport, we are putting our lives in someone else's hands. Let's pray to God to look out for us.

To Be Employable

I asked a few friends to look out for a job for me; I have no particular preference but it has to be something that I CAN do. It's been months and they have yet to get back to me. As you know, I do not have any qualification or even work experience. My friends think that my years of working for myself should count for something but obviously not.

I am thinking of going back to school, to take up a course of something but I am so lazy when I think of the books that I have to read. On the other hand, I have also contemplated enrolling in Regency Beauty Institute and be a qualified beautician. I may not be pretty but I definitely love to make others beautiful.

I love their job placement program and perhaps this is the route to working on a cruise ship! Who knows??

Sale Starts....

So J Card Members' Day is over but this is when these special deals are open to the public. I am quite embarrassed that even though i saw some pretty 'cheap" stuff, I didn't manage to get anything for myself because the crowd was just too huge and I didn't have the time or patience to queue up at the cashier. Well I'm paying for them my purchases. It would be different if I were to queue up for free stuffs! LOL

Anyway, I think I prefer to shop at a less crowded place even though I may have to pay slightly more compared to J Card Members' Day though I am uncertain how much difference in price the items are. There are just too many to keep track of!

In any case, it would be a good time to pick up some new clothes. I have wanted to change my image but never been able to thus far because I am just too stingy. And with the shortage of cotton, there really aren't that many clothes that I could buy cheaply anymore. Perhaps I would have to up my budget.

To Invest Or Not

My pen-pal of 19 years sent me a lengthy air mail letter as he has always done when he sends me birthday greetings. This letter, he shared with me deaths in his family and also he has gone back to university because he couldn't get a good job.

According to him, his father, who passed away just last month, left him some cash, which he is thinking of investing in something solid. Being a student, and still single, he doesn't have use of the money yet so he wonders if it's a good decision to buy gold coins now or perhaps wait for the price of gold to drop a little before entering the market.

I have no experience buying gold in any form except gold jewelry so I couldn't tell him if he should buy now, later, or not at all. However, I can tell him that he should read up on investing in gold, even if it's just coins, and to get a really good dealer. Perhaps an experienced person could better guide him on gold investment, or investment in any other precious metals for that matter.

New Hotel In Ipoh - DWJ Hotel

DWJ Hotel is a new hotel in Ipoh. It opens for business on 16th December, 2010 but I was told that it is already fully booked. It has a total of 22 rooms. Although the room rates are quite cheap, I have had the pleasure to view the rooms and they certainly do not look "cheap"!

Until the end of the year, rooms are going at a discount of 30% but since the hotel is fully booked, this is moot. Well, unless someone cancels the room! But since I live in Ipoh, I have no use for a hotel room in Ipoh, even if it's cheap. LOL

With De Hotel, DWJ Hotel and the up-coming Tune Hotels in Ipoh, visiting Ipoh is now very convenient and cheap, thanks to the electric train, that's still only RM30 per adult Ipoh-KL.

Eco-friendly Window Shutters

I balked at the idea when my friend told me that he is going to hang curtains in his guest room downstairs that he intends to convert into his home office. Although my friend's business is conducted online and he doesn't need to entertain guests or clients at his office, I didn't think it's appropriate to have fabric curtains because they look too homely.

My friend hasn't started on his renovations yet so there's still hope! I quickly suggested that he install Window Shutters instead as they are definitely more appropriate for an office environment. He should be able to concentrate on his work better too!

I have no knowledge on window shutters at all but I could see the many different designs and ranges of shutters and their material from the website of Premier Shutters Ltd. I never expected so many! My friend would have a tough time selecting which to install! LOL

When I have my own place, WHEN, not IF, I would like to have the eco-friendly window shutter. I like the idea that the Esher shutter range is very easy to clean since I am a minimalist who is trying to streamline work around the house. I wouldn’t be able to afford a housemaid so it’s wise to invest in something that requires the least work.

'No' To Child Marriages

The minister has given a resounding 'NO' to child marriages in the country and even if the Syariah court says it can go ahead, there really should be a law that governs all of us, whatever our religion. This case is very obvious, though, and I bet that he girl, even though only 14 years old, is already pregnant and to getting married to the baby's father will solve a few issues:

1. the girl will not be a single mother
2. the girl will not have to go through an abortion, which is a sin in the eyes of religion
3. the man, a school teacher, doesn't have to be charged for rape

While the parents may have through that a marriage between these baby's parents would solve this social problem, they didn't think that it would attract he media's attention around he world. Nobody said a word about this being a shot-gun marriage but isn't it obvious enough?

This isn't so much a issue with the children but with parenting. This looks like epic failure on the part of the parents of both the man and the girl. Whatever it is, what is done is done so let's just hope this young couple has a long lasting marriage.

Gold Coins As Gifts

My neighbor told me that when her son celebrated his first birthday, the grandparents gave him a pair of commemorative gold coins. She shows me the gift and I have to admit that they look really beautiful. I am surprised that they aren't very expensive.

Chatting with her gave me an idea to buy gold coins for my friend's daughter who will turn one on 31st December. I had spent a lot of time wondering what to get her and because she is the daughter of a close friend, I couldn't be stingy in my gift!

Commemorative gold coins certainly look classy and even if the price is not expensive, it doesn't look "cheap".

Moving My Blog

I have spent the entire morning trying to move my WordPress blog, with the help of a friend. I feel like vomitting now because after waiting for the DNS to point to the new server, I see the error message "Error establishing a database connection" and I am unable to access my blog on the web. It's frustrating as I cannot find the problem and my friend has gone to bed. So bad him!

Meanwhile, I have changed my DNS again to the original one so that at least, after a few hours, my blog will be live again even if my friend sleeps late into the evening and would not be able to help me pinpoint where the problem lies in.

Am suffering from a headache now. I don’t handle stress well at all!

Air Asia Race Against Time

Air Asia is back again with their cheap flights. I so want to go somewhere, anywhere, by flight, and take advantage of Air Asia promotions but because there is such a long gap between buying the ticket and flying, it is so difficult for me to decide. And I already have one of the most flexible schedules!

But even though I am able to go somewhere, I don't feel like going alone because it is risky to go alone. Haven't we read too much in the papers already about female getting into trouble when alone, or even in pairs? I certainly don't want to be part of he statistics. The problem is I just can't find a travel partner!

I haven't taken a flight before and I would have to go on my first trip out of the country with someone who has travelled intentionally before. Otherwise it would be like the blind leading the blind. Who wants to go traipsing with me?

Pension Windfall

My mother is one of the lucky government pensioners who received a cash bonus this month. My mother asked me what she should do with it. I told her to buy gold. That's the best.

Although my mother has not been medically fit these past few months, she is a government pensioner and qualifies for free health care, so she doesn't need to use her any of her savings. Besides, she has three children and we are her "insurance".

I believe that like most elderly people, they feel more secure knowing they have cash in the bank. If my mother has gold, she would definitely feel happier, even if it was bought with her own money. LOL

Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show 2010 (KLIMS '10)

KLIMS is here again. I had wanted to go on the 3rd of December, the first day of the motor show but because I have four events to attend in Ipoh over the weekend, I couldn't squeeze in a trip to KL just for KLIMS. If I lived in KL, then I surely would have gone on the first day itself.

As it is, now that I have missed the 1st day, I could only make it on the 8th at the earliest. With the motorshow ending on 12th, I wonder if it is still viable to make a trip down and waste one whole day travelling. Of course, besides the motorshow, I intend to visit Little India in Brickfields again for more photos.

I don't know, I can't decide now. I think I will only make my decision tomorrow. Let me ask around to see which of my friends could also make it on the 8th. Going with friends is better than going alone.

PC Show Ipoh (December 2010)

It's IT fair time again in Ipoh. It began on 3rd December and will end this evening at 9pm. if you are in Ipoh, make your way to Stadium Indera Mulia, or maybe not. I tell you, the previous IT fair was slightly more than a month ago only and they are too near to each other to see any new products introduced to consumers. Almost everything is the same, from vendors to sales people to consumers.

I wasn't looking for anything in particular because I already have a new digital camera and a new desktop computer. I am eye-ing a GPS and a tablet computer, though but I don't have the money for top of the line GPS devices and tablets are still new in the market and is still lacking technology-wise.

I did, however, buy a laptop sleeve, only RM10, but exactly what I need for my laptop. Other things didn't catch my eye. Perhaps, I need to be more generous to myself!

Birthday Gift To Myself

I celebrated my birthday recently and my sister asked me if I am buying anything for myself. Sometimes, we just need to reward ourselves, you see. I didn't buy anything yet, though I am planning to buy tablet soon, when the market matures a little more next year.

However, with the price increase of a slew of essentials, including RON95 petrol, I am changing my mind. It is wiser to buy something more sustainable like gold. Seriously, I had wanted to buy gold for a long time but could not afford it. At this point, I could only afford to buy gold coins but that is good enough.

Gold coins are not only great for keeping, they make great decorative pieces in the living room too. I love that I get the chance to admire my gold coins and derive pleasure from that. I wouldn't be able to do the same with bullion!

National Horse Show 2010

If you are in Ipoh today, you may want to make a visit to the National Horse Show 2010 currently held at the Perak Turf Club. It's an exposition and carnival and there are plenty of games and activities lined up for children and families. I went to the Perak Turf Club three days in a row because there are just so many things to see. I have always wanted to visit the Turf Club to get up close with horses but never had the chance previously because I had to stay home to take care of my doggies.

Besides the expo and carnival, equestrian competitions are on-going as well from dressage, showjumping and horseball, just to name a few events that I witnessed. Horses are massive and they have their individual characters. Of course, their breed shapes how they behave as well but some have "headwind" and could pose a danger to people who do not know how to handle them.

If you like horses, make your way to the Perak Turf Club now. Today is the final day and it ends at 6pm!

Indulgence

My brother-in-law hinted that he wants to have an ATV for Christmas. My sister wants to make him happy as he is quite depressed these past months, after losing his father and didn't get to see him one last time and then losing a baby. My sister already bought him a Motorola Droid X last month for his birthday but it looks like it still didn't cure him of his depression.

My sister is afraid that the maintenance of an ATV will be too high. They would have to buy new ATV Tires and other accessories, just like maintaining any vehicle. My sister is not keen on the thought of over-indulging in a hobby but if this is the only way to cheer her husband up, perhaps she will give in.

RON95 Goes Up By 5sen

In my previous post, I had wondered aloud if the G will keep their hands off RON95, and for how long. Well, the question has been answered as from today onwards, RON95 will increase by 5sen per litre, to RM1.90 per litre. BAH!

So last night, like a lot of poor folks, I asked my brother to help me get some fuel into the car. Well, as long as we could save one or two Ringgit, why not? I was too tired to go out after being under the hot sun for the entire afternoon, and got pissed when I came home to find out this surprise!

With diesel also increased by 5sen to RM1.80 per litre, I figure tough times are ahead of us. Diesel is used in so many industrial sectors, including transportation, it wouldn't take long when everything becomes more expensive as well.

I'd Rather Buy Bullion

A friend, who recently visited a gold mine in the East Coast, told me that he has some gold to let go. He said that the area is so rich in gold that even walking inside, he managed to pick up some gold. He sent me a photo of the rock of gold that he wants to sell to me. He said he doesn't know what price to sell it at since he doesn't know the purity of it.

Even though gold is a very previous commodity right now and anyone in his or her right mind would want to enter the market, I told him that I would rather buy gold bullion. Gold like his, I have no use for and don't even know what to do with it. The smelters will probably think I stole the gold. LOL Buying gold, one has to go through authorized, reputable dealers.
