A Post On OIAM - I KNOW I'm Behind Time

This is a belated post on "One In A Million" which concluded last Friday, on 22nd September, 2006. I know, I know I'm behind time, but you know how I've been complaining ever so much that I'm bogged down by work and two sick monkeys?

Well, to my horror, I just realised that I forgot to submit a report, which I have been doing every month-end for the past eight years, and it had completely slipped my mind.

My last report was in May, 2006. Is that scary or what? I mean, I've been doing this for so long now it should have been routine, but I can totally forget about it. I have missed three reports. I hope my position is not jeopardised.

Anyway, about
"One In A Million", in late July, 2006 when they were down to the top 12 contestants, I wrote in my team blog that my bet was on Suki winning the title and a cool million Ringgit. My vision is not bad, huh? ;P

Actually, it wasn't difficult to realise that Suki will be the runaway winner; she was the only Chinese contestant. The rest were Malays and there were no split SMS votes. Yes, these sort of reality shows touch on racial lines, whether we like it or not.

Any Chinese, no matter if she/he can sing or not, no matter if she/he is talented or not, will win if she/he is the only Chinese in a pool of contestants that are decided by public votes. This is solely my opinion, but I don't think I'm too far off the mark.

I think that Faizal Tahir, the city rocker (as opposed to Kampung Rocker from
Malaysian Idol), pulled off the best performance in the entire OIAM season, with his medley of three songs in the Grand Finale. Unfortunately for him, the phone lines closed too soon for the fence-sitters to cast their votes.

Now, it can only remain an unanswered question, "Will Faizal Tahir be the winner if the phone lines remained open for, say, another week?"

Having said these, I am not saying Suki doesn't deserve to win. Or that she is not talented enough. To me, Suki is not that outstanding, but given time, she will improve as time is on her side. With a million Ringgit, one can polish lots of diamonds.

If you're wondering, NO, I did not vote for anyone, I never did, even during the days of
Malaysian Idol 1 & 2, and I never will vote. I just watch them purely for their cheap entertainment value, if any. No matter who wins makes no difference to me, personally.

Was Emily Rose Epileptic or Psychotic?

I got the movie, The Exorcism of Emily Rose, way back in May, 2006 upon the recommendation of a friend, someone who watches two movies almost every work day when he commutes to and from office, so his knowledge is pretty extensive.

Anyway, I got it but I kept it at the bottom of the movie pile, because I read some reviews on the net mentioning that it is a "courtroom drama" while some said it's a horror movie. While I like horror, I don't enjoy courtroom dramas so I kept watching Korean movies, much to my regret hahaha

I finally decided to watch it last night and was thoroughly entertained for the two whole hours. I practically had goosebumps all over me for that length of time too! It was a very eerie movie, very believable.

Coming from my shitty background where I was exposed to the dark forces from a young age, I can relate very well to Emily Rose's episodes of demonic possession. It's really unfortunate that one person has to suffer so much at the will of demons while many of us go about life happily not knowing the existence of evil spirits.

I personally have met with many such victims through the years; in my quest for answers and personal research and these people definitely are neither epileptic nor psychotic, as perceived by the doctors who attended to Emily Rose.

Science (and medicine) are all based on cold, hard facts; there's no room for aesthetics, but that does not mean that someone who believes in something outside the borders of science is cuckoo in the head. It's only that the supernatural world cannot be seen with the naked eye, but requires the *gift* of a third eye.

The Exorcism of Emily Rose is based on a true story and it is unfortunate that Father Richard Moore was found guilty of criminal negligence. In my humble opinion, his only "crime" was not being powerful enough to overcome the six demonic beings that had taken control of Emily Rose's body.

Just like how one will always remember the touch of an angel, one will never be the same person again after being touched by evilness.

Guilty Post

It's been exactly three weeks since I last blogged. Three weeks is like eons in internet time. I feel so guilty about it and I apologise to my two regular readers who log in almost daily but see no updates here. A thousand apologies!

I know I should have, but did not, drop a note here saying that I'm taking a break from this blog. I didn't want to mess this blog with short notices. Forgive me.

I've been freaking busy. Have to take care of work on three computers and at the end of the day, I go home to not one, but TWO sick monkeys. This has put me off keeping monkeys forever.

When I sit in front of the PC, something always comes up that calls me away and then I lose my train of thought and also the mood to blog. So, as you can see, I don't have any personal time at all.

All I want to do is to watch a senseless movie, movie that do not require me to use my brains. But with 30 titles waiting for me, I even have crack my head to decide which to watch first!

Also, I kinda feel that this blog needs a revamp but I'm so so so lazy. I wish there's someone to do the dirty work for me.

Anyway, I need log off now.

Siaran masih tergendala.

Don't be notti. I'll be back soon!!

"Temptation of Wolves"

*Temptation of Wolves*

We all know about the tragic storylines most Korean movies and dramas have but Korean movie, "Temptation of Wolves", is really something of a different realm to me.

Yes, again it's about students and it's supposed to be a triangle love story and it has a tragic end as well.

But this tragic story has a twist that is only revealed at the very end of the movie.

I don't fancy the opening fight scenes at the subway where there was fast paced camera play. If you've read my complains on Mission Impossible 3, you'd know I can't tolerate scenes like that. Prolonged exposure will even cause me to vomit and faint.

Anyway, once we got past that, the movie was quite a good watch, albeit its predictability.

Somehow, I can't recall if the girl chose her boyfriend BEFORE or AFTER knowing that the other guy is "off-limits" ... hhmm shall I watch a second time?

In one scene outside the airport, next to the runway, like typical Korean directors, this one panned the camera on the actress slow-mo and spun around and around 360 degrees dunno how many times, until I almost fainted as well.

I thought it was better if the guy hugged the girl la. Which guy will just stand aside and watch if his girlfriend was crying her eyes out like that?

And at the end of the movie when there was the scene of the tragic twist, there were lots of crying as well. I NEARLY cried too *sigh*

Again, the guy should have hugged the girl tightly lah aiyooo apalah....

This movie just cements the belief I have that life is a cruel twist of fate where we living beings are just actors acting out our respective roles in a script already well written before our birth.

Dream Diary - 05 ~ Another Night, Another Nightmare

Went to bed at 2.30am and was startled by a fierce dream by 3am. Not the ghostly type, or the violent type, just damn scary, so real that I thought it was really happening. Thank God I woke up and realised it's just a dream after all.

No doubt, something like that in my nightmare could happen for real, but I don't want to ever face that kinda situation. I dare not write about it in case it happens to the person close to me. I don't think I can handle it.

Needless to say, the rest of the night, or shall I say morning, was lousy. Hardly slept at all. And then I spent the better part of the day praying and hoping that my nightmare was just that ... a nightmare, and nothing more.

Six Random Strange Facts About the Anonymous Crap Sheeter

I've been tagged by ~TheAngel~ to do this meme. Thank you very much. And once again, I apologise to _butt for failing to take up her challenge of writing a Merdeka Puisi. I really throw in my towel for that!

In this meme, I'm supposed to write six random facts about myself, the Anonymous Crap Sheeter.

So here goes and do not be shocked:

1. She can't ride a bicycle or a motorcycle, swim or drive a car. It's a wonder she can even WALK.

2. She was a school bully who bullied other students and fought with teachers.

3. Maybe because of that bad karma (#2), she is a college dropout, if you consider one month in college as "College".

4. Once thought that her family is normal, until a friend pointed out that her family is the weirdest of weird, worse than "The Adamm's Family".

5. Friends mean alot to her because family is shit. (The Adamm's Family, remember?)

6. She does not have a favourite ANYTHING.

Bonus fact:
She has NEVER eaten McDonald's before.

I'm supposed to tag six people, but I'd leave this option open to anyone who reads this and would like to do this. Please drop me a comment if you're doing it, so that I can go and read.

Thank you for reading, I'm not sure if anyone's interested to know these facts about me!

My Sassy Girl, Windstruck and My Girl & I

*My Sassy Girl*

Directed by Kwak Jae-yong
Produced by Shin Chul
Main actor:
Cha Tae-hyun
Main actress:
Jun Ji-hyun
Released: July 27, 2001 (South Korea)

WindStruck
(Let Me Introduce You To My Girlfriend)

Directed by Kwak Jae-yong
Produced by Jeong Hun-tak
Main actress:
Jun Ji-hyun
Main actor:
Jang Hyeok
Released: June 3, 2004 (South Korea)

*My Girl & I*

Directed by Jeon Yun-su
Produced by Jeon Hoon-tak
Main actor:
Cha Tae-hyun
Main actress:
Song Hye-kyo
Released: December 23, 2005 (South Korea)

These three movies are so alike so much so that many people thought that they are sequels but they are not, although two of these three movies are based on true life stories. Moreover, the same actors and actresses who appeared in these three movies added to the confusion.

I watched all three movies, but unfortunately in the wrong sequence hahaha

Anyway, I started with
WindStruck. It's a movie that's hard to forget and it's one of the few that managed to make me cry. The most touching scene was when the main actor died. That scene was so intense, so sad. And it's eerie too when the spirit made visitations ala Ghost. I recommend this to anyone interested in Korean movies.

Cha Tae-hyun the protagonist in "My Sassy Girl" and "My Girl & I" appeared in WindStruck as well, at the very end of the movie, standing on the platform of a train station, where Jun Ji-hyun thinks she has found a new soul mate.

And then I watched
"My Sassy Girl". This is a true movie based on the romance of a couple, where the girlfriend is a little weird because of her past. Sometimes, watching this movie, I went like, "Wah, like this also can ar??"

At least this movie has a happy ending but sometimes in the middle of the movie, one thinks if this relationship could ever survive as the girl keeps pining for the past.

The last movie I watched was
"My Girl & I". This movie isn't that memorable to me. It has a sad ending, but didn't make me cry, because the acting was not intense enough. Emotions did not come across too well, that was why it was not so moving for me, although the ending is not something that we wish on anyone.

The cinematography was great but the weird thing about this movie is the protagonist's grandfather is an undertaker and coffin seller, and the wonder is that the main stars had to sleep inside coffins on different occasions. Eeeewww I thought Asians are damn superstitious, or is it just me?

The main actress in
"My Girl & I" is Song Hye-kyo, who starred in "All In", which I watched recently. She was a better actress in "My Girl & I" but both performances were equally enjoyable, nevertheless.

At first, I thought I'd review these Korean movies later, but today is just as good a day as any other :p

Update 04 ~ How To Get Back My $$$??

I'm happy to inform all concerned readers of ** An Anonymous Crap Sheet ** that I managed to fully collect the loan that I gave a friend two years ago.

Phew ~ that took a lot of mental energy but thankfully, this story closed with a good ending. I don't wish to realise that I mix with bad hats or that my friend is not what he seems to be.
