Watching Upin & Ipin

I got to know there will be a Karnival Upin & Ipin in Ipoh this Friday. They will be making an appearance for three days, it seems. I have heard of this animation series before but never bothered watching them. Since getting to know that they will be coming, I have been busy watching episodes of Upin & Ipin. I hardly watch Malay shows so this is like something new to me. Luckily, I still remember my Bahasa Malaysia so it's not too bad. I do enjoy some of the episodes though, and some of the lines make me laugh but I wish the characters could be cuter.

To KL And Back

Went to KL and came home within the same day and nearly fell ill. It was so, so hot and I didn't have enough water to drink. Not that I was too stingy to buy water but I didn't see any!

In addition, I already was awake at 3+ am even though my express coach leaves Ipoh at 7.30am. I just woke up automatically, somehow, and couldn't sleep anymore. And so my long day began. I usually try to catch some sleep on my way to KL and also on the way home but this time on the way to KL, the bus stopped two times so that one of the passengers could use the toilet.

On the way home, I took the train and even though I was very tired, I couldn't sleep. My "neighbour" on the train, an Indian guy, wanted to chit chat and that was fine with me. However, each time I wanted to do something on the phone like reply to messages, he would be looking INTO my screen until i couldn't get anything done. What lah... never see phone before?

So I arrived home at 12.30am and only got to bed at 2am. You can imagine what a punishing trip I had! My shoulder is aching now because of my heavy bag and I am still trying to recover from the long and tiring trip!

Too Frequent Electricity Cuts

My neighborhood has been experiencing electricity cut way too often. I called the electricity board help line and they told me it's a cable fault and they are working on it but I don't know if I should believe them since there is a sports tournament going on at the stadium nearby so perhaps all the floodlights have zapped our power.

My neighbor advised me to get a power generator. I have actually been looking at honda portable generators but because I have no experience buying generators, I have delayed my purchase. I thought I would read up more on them first. If power cut happens again, I think I can't procrastinate any longer.

Estee Lauder Model Search

I went shopping at Kinta City last evening and there was an Estee Lauder Model Search going on. This is a search for the Pure Color "IT Girl" and it is open to virtually all females since they have two categories; 29 years old and below and 30 years old and above.

One of the guys were telling me that I could get my hair and face done up immediately. I was taken aback. He gotta be kidding if he thinks that I qualify at all. HAHA!! He should have saved his breath to approach someone more beautiful, someone who has a chance at winning the model search.

But then again, anyone who splashes RM300 on Estee Lauder products can participate. Participants will however, receive a bag full of goodies so participating in Estee Lauder Model Search is practically free!

Visiting A Plastic Surgeon

I have been making visits to the plastic surgeon's clinic to find out more information on mole removal. I don't like going to clinics in general but visiting a plastic surgeon's clinic is awful because of the graphic before/after photos of the surgeon's handiwork in plastic and reconstructive surgeries.

There are some cases of cleft lip and cleft palate, which makes me wonder if they were caused by Topamax. If you have been reading my blog, you would know that there is an on-going Topamax lawsuit where mothers who were prescribed with Topamax gave birth to babies with this birth defect.

if you know of any patient who is a victim of Topamax, you should advise them to contact the product liability claim specialist at: O’Hanlon, McCollom & Demerath – Personal Injury Lawyers – 808 West Avenue, Austin, TX. 78701 – 512-494-9949

PIKOM PC Fair In Ipoh NOW

Yes, PIKOM PC fair is in Ipoh again. Actually, the fair kicked off yesterday and will wrap up this Sunday, 22nd May, 2011. I have already visited the fair yesterday morning at 11am but because many of the vendors were not ready yet, I think I am going to make a visit again.

I don't have anything specific in mind to buy this PC Fair but I came across a few new devices, at least they are new in Ipoh, and I would like to have a look at them more thoroughly. I wonder when is the best time to visit when the crowd is thinner. There are always too many people that I couldn't really spend time trying out the products that I am interested in.

Working Hard Working Out

My cousin told me that he is working hard at the gym for the past month. No wonder I couldn't seem to get him on the phone lately when he was supposed to be relaxing at home. I didn't know how serious he was in keeping a fitter figure until he told me that he has been trying out the best creatine supplements recommended by his friends.

I did a little reading up on creatine supplements. Apparently, low quality creatine products cause side effects like bloating. I am going to inform my cousin about this since. I think I'm going to keep a better eye on him; he has changed a lot not only physically but also in his outlook. Must be the company he keeps.

Fantastic Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 2011 Finals

Yep, I went to watch the finals of the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 2011 finals. It was a match between Australia and Pakistan. Both teams, while those who know hockey said that they didn't played brilliantly, gave their best, in my opinion.

It was a very hard fought match, very heart-stopping for the fans. Pakistan drew level at 2-2 and forced extra time. However, Australia managed a golden goal, and lifted the trophy. The trophy is golden. I wonder if it's real gold.

Anyway, I already miss the hockey games.... funny that prior to this tournament, I didn't know anything about hockey at all; not that I know a lot now... you know what I mean...

Driving An Old Car

A couple of my friends have told me that I'm stupid to buy an old car. Well, I already bought my car almost a year now and so far, nothing bad has happened. Of course, when I first bought it, my father took the care to the mechanic to have it stripped and replace many parts. I am lucky that I have my dad and my brother to help me with the mechanical side of the car. In fact, I don't even have to put gas myself since my brother does it for me every time!

Besides taking care that the car runs well mechanically, I am subscribed to a roadside assistance plan so in case the vehicle breaks down on the road, at least there's someone I can call and I will be assisted quickly.

Oh well, for a car that price, I have no complaints, really. Sure, driving a newer car will boost my self-confidence but I am not going to wear a hat that doesn't fit.

Sultan Azlan Shah (SAS) Cup 2011 Finals Tonight

It's the finals tonight at the Stadium Azlan Shah hockey stadium in Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia. It will be played at 8.05pm between Pakistan and Australia. It has been a tremendous tournament for me, in many aspects and more importantly, I have made new friends.

This is the 20th edition of the men's field hockey tournament and even though it's just practically played at my doorstep, I have never watched any live hockey matches before. The third match this tournament was my first, and since then, I have watched daily!

If you are in Ipoh, you might want to come over and catch the finals. I know that the Stadium will be packed and it will not be easy to take photos. I will still try...

Short-Handed

My sister told me that one of her colleagues was involved in a massive accident. Actually, she was the cause of it as she blacked out while driving. She survived the accident but she can no longer work. My sister says that thanks to her disability insurance, her financial burden is lessened.

My sister, who works at a beauty store, told me that they are short of a pair of hands now and her boss has no plans to hire a new worker. My sister says that Asian bosses are like that; they would make one person work two jobs to save the cost of operating a business.

Well, hopefully the boss will see that it's not productive to be short-handed and get bring in a new girl.

Number 1 & 2 In Malaysia

I've been so busy during the Sultan Azlan Shah (SAS) Cup 2011 that I have totally forgotten to post my photos of the PM and DPM's visit to Ipoh, until a friend sent me an email to remind me. OOPS! So here they are!

The Prime Minister and the Deputy Prime Minister made separate visits to Ipoh for two different events. The PM's visit was the launching of Kempen Intervensi Awal Mencegah Berlakunya Kecacatan Kepada Kanak-Kanak in early May while the photo of the DPM was shot when he came to close Amanah Saham Malaysia Investment Week (MSAM 2011).

I know, these were taken so long ago. Well, the events seemed like ages ago though they were only 2 -3 weeks ago! Wowzers, time flies!

Globally Recognized Beauty Qualification

I made a new friend last week and he asked if I have an "education". Frankly, the question embarrasses me and I know that I have to do something about it. Books don't interest me and I prefer to learn a skill. I am quite interested in learning about beauty and working in the beauty industry when I graduate.

Columbia beauty school by Regency Beauty Institute seems like the school just for me. Although I have not decided on a beauty course yet, it's about time I found out the courses available and the fees.

I prefer to study at a reputable institute so that the qualification obtained will be recognized worldwide. This would ensure that I have more job opportunities and with top beauty houses around the world too!

Ghost Hockey

I've been going to watch hockey at Stadium Azlan Shah Ipoh since the first day of the Sultan Azlan Shah 2011 tournament. Although I don't know anything about hockey, I've been enjoying myself and I make some new friends too. I also tried my hands at shooting sports photos. Unfortunately, I don't have a powerful camera and so, with a swift game like hockey, my photo turned out like this.

It's like ghost hockey. I can't even see who is playing but from the colours, I can see that it was a match between Malaysia and India. Haha! Did you know that Malaysia lost to India 2-5? Well, at least Malaysia played their hearts out, even though Malaysia stands at world number 15 against India's world number 9.

I am beginning to like hockey even though I may still not know the game rules and such. I will continue to watch hockey matches until the finals while the tournament is still being held at my doorstep.

Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 2011 In Ipoh

Ipoh is the host of the 20th Sultan Azlan Shah Cup Men’s International Hockey Tournament 2011. It kicked off at Stadium Azlan Shah hockey stadium in Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia.

I went to watch the match between Malaysia and Great Britain last evening and even though I had no idea head or tail how field hockey goes, I still had a great time. the atmosphere was awesome, spectators were very responsive.

When I was there for the match, so was HRH Sultan of Perak Sultan Azlan Shah and HRH Crown Prince of Pahang Tengku Mahkota Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah who is the President of the Malaysian Hockey Confederation. So, I was in the company of royals, albeit thousands of miles away. SIGH!

This is one of the photos that I took during the match between Malaysia and Great Britain. Malaysia lost 1-3.

Changing & Improving A Business

With the economy still so sluggish, many of my friends who run their own business told me that sometimes it feels like they are working for nothing. Although I think that it is during quiet times like these that we should work harder to move forward while our competitors take a back seat, working hard is not enough.

Business owners should make changes to see how they can bring their business to a new level and now is the best time to do it. There is a Change management software that is very effective, giving us new solutions that we may have not considered before.

I told my friends that they shouldn't give up but instead, change and improve. And I'd also try to do the same as well.

PM Najib Visits Ipoh Tomorrow

I got to know that our Prime Minister will be visiting Ipoh tomorrow morning. Although I don't even know what he and his wife will be doing here in Ipoh, some kanak-kanak kurang upaya programme, if I am not mistaken, I think i will go and have a look.

I have seen the PM in another event prior to this but I am trying to get his autograph. He has so many bodyguards surrounding him that I can't even get close to him at all. My photos are all failed shots. SIGH...

Let’s just hope that tomorrow, I will be able to get some close up shots of the first couple of Malaysia. The autograph is a bonus.
