Avastin Lawsuit

My aunt passed away from cancer one year already. My, how time flies. And we have yet to find a cure for cancer, even though it is a disease that is claiming more and more people! I have been reading about medication for cancer and came across this Avastin lawsuit.

Avastin is also known as bevacizumab, a medicine that was said to interfere with the growth of cancer cells and slows the spread of the cells in the body of a cancer patient. Well, that sounds pretty awesome, doesn't it?

However, recent studies have found that there are multiple risk factors associated with it, from high blood pressure to heart attack, heart failure, bleeding and holes in the nose, stomach and intestines. Scary! That's why there is this lawsuit brought on by patients who have been injured by Avastin!

Quiet Weekend

After the craziness of last weekend, this weekend is totally opposite. I do have some things lined up, but it wouldn't be crazy. There is no pressure to perform this weekend, and in fact, I can choose to work, or choose to stay at home because frankly, I don't find the events really interesting at all. Hahah! But that’s just my opinion.

Well, I just hope that something exciting comes up, something that makes me spring out of bed in the morning, something that wouldn't make me miss not getting my dose of afternoon nap!

Unfortunately, right now, my diary is empty. Bah!

Zoo Negara has announced that in conjunction with their 50th anniversary, those who were born in 1961 will get to enter Zoo Negara for free. That's right. They don't have to pay any entrance fee, though I do not know how much the ticket is!

Oh yes, this free entrance for those born in the year 1961 will be valid from 30th July to 31st Dec, 2011. That's five long months. So if you were born in 1961 and yet are not able to take advantage of this freebie from Zoo Negara and enjoy their new features, you really should kick yourself! LOL

Actos Lawsuit

As a family who has a medical history of diabetes, I am very aware of the advancement of medicine to control diabetes. Lately, I read about the Actos lawsuit, a lawsuit brought on by diabetes patients who had been put on the oral diabetes medicine called Actos.

According to studies, Actos is said to cause serious injuries like heart attack and heart failure and increase the risk of bladder cancer. Scary, isn't it? The scarier thing is that Actos had been sold under a few trade names, namely Actos, ActoplusMet, Competact and Duetact.

If you are on medication for diabetes, do find out what you have been prescribed with. Hopefully, it is not Actos!

End of July

Gosh, it's the end of July already. Another two more days and it will be August. Gosh, where did my month go? I am in the red again this month. Yet, how come I am kept so, so busy, when I am not making money? Well, at least I don't make enough to survive. Or perhaps, I do make enough for one person, I am single after all.... but not when the family is a huge financial burden!

The car still needs a little repair but that could be delayed. As long as it is not a critical fault, I will procrastinate in my repairs. I don't feel like digging my piggie bank, you see! Well, unless I get a windfall or something. It's pretty disheartening when the USD drops so much daily! SIGH!

Extremely Busy Weekend

What an extremely busy weekend I had. It started on Friday, where I went to Kuala Lumpur for a day. I came back to Ipoh on Friday night and the following day, the craziness began. I went all over Ipoh to cover a few events. In the end, I managed to cover six events over two days. PHEW!

I really enjoy doing what I do, even if I do it for free. I get to see so many new things, exposed to things that i have never seen before and of course, I get to meet new friends as well. However, it would be best if I get paid to cover all these events!

My friend told me that I wasting time and money; fuel money, parking money, and other opportunities, doing this. But I really enjoy myself. Yes, it's hectic, especially during weekends but then, if I don't go around town, I'd just be at home napping. LOL

Hazy Ipoh

We've experiencing bad haze in Ipoh for the past few days. The drought did not help with the air quality of visibility. Even after two to three weeks of extreme dryness and heat, we only have had slight rain fall but it has been a welcomed relieve.

But then I read in the papers that Ipoh isn't the only city experiencing haze, no thanks to burning in Indonesia. And even when we did finally have some rain, and no visible haze, the rain doesn't smell fresh. In fact, it smells so funny and doesn't feel refreshing at all!

Hopefully, we will have better weather this coming week. I've had enough of the heat. I can't sleep at night when I am perspiring so. I don't want to succumb to installing the air-con!

Go With The Flow

Recently, I've been analyzing a situation way too much and a friend told me to stop it and just go with the flow. I know I have a weakness in thinking about stuff in depth before I take the plunge. I will think, "What if this happens?" Or, I can't do this or that because this will happen. Well, whether it happens or not, nobody knows but to me, that's the logical consequences to follow.

As I said, this friend told me I should just go with the flow. Rightly or wrongly, I shouldn't be too hard on myself. Because even if walk the straight and narrow, there is no guarantee nothing bad will happen or nothing will go wrong. At the same time, we have seen so many "bad" people doing pretty well in life.

How true. I really should relax a little and don't be too hard on myself. It’s time to learn to have some fun in life.

Personalized Gift For Baby

My good friend is going to have a baby soon and I am as excited as her! She couldn't let us know the gender of her baby as she didn't want to find out as well. She wants it to be a surprise and although I think it's an awesome idea, it means that we, her friends and family, are not able to prepare our baby gifts yet until the baby is born.

I have an idea to get some personalized baby gifts but I will have to wait for the birth before deciding on the color blue or pink. Yes, I am still traditional when it comes to giving blue and pink colored baby gifts according to the gender of the baby! Maybe I should not be so stereotypical?

Old PC Recycling Campaign

There is an old PC recycling campaign running at the current PC Show. Although there are many PC or IT fairs in Ipoh, I believe only PC Show has this campaign. Cash vouchers will be given to anyone who brings in old gadgets, whether they are still in working condition or broken.

The value of cash vouchers are RM20 for notebook, RM12 for desktop monitor, RM8 for CPU and RM2 for printer. I personally think that these are pretty low rates but haven't we all thrown something away thinking that it has no more value?

The bad thing is that cash vouchers can only be spent at the current PC Show. So if you don't see anything you want to buy during the three days, your cash voucher will no longer be valid. I think they should at least allow us a year to redeem the vouchers. Don't you think so?

New TV Set

My dad is hankering for a new TV set but I am reluctant to allow him to purchase one. We already have a TV at home, so why need a new one? My dad says our old analog TV is not able to receive digital signals hence there are many programs that he is not able to subscribe.

A new TV set is going to set us back by a lot and then we would have to pay subscription fees to our cable company. It's a total waste of money for some entertainment. I think it's better to just buy an analog digital converter, fix it up with our existing TV and we can start receiving digital signals and watch the programs for free!

We get to save a lot of money buying just the analog digital converter instead of a new TV set and additional subscription fees!

Branded Clearance Sale In Ipoh

My friend told me there is a branded clearance sale in Ipoh this weekend until 10th July, 2011 at Tower Regency, Ipoh. Wooweee... I can't wait to go shopping since I have so many things I want to buy. I need new clothes, new underwear, new shoes and new bags.

I normally just go window shopping and only buy when there is a sale. Now, this is a CLEARANCE sale. And branded stuff too! According to my friend, who has already shopped her share, she has found very nice things, just that they are not as cheap as she expected.

Hhmmm this doesn't sound very appealing to me. Nevermind, I go and have a look myself maybe this weekend. Sale until 10th July, so there's still plenty of time.

Making Money Work

A friend told me that he just spent $30K repainting his house. That's a ridiculous amount of money, isn't it? But then again, he's wealthy. If only he teaches me his secret in making money! Frankly, I had wanted to make money work for me but I cannot do it. Here I am busy earning, I don't have time to study about investments and other things that would multiply my capital.

I read about this Missoula, MT wealth management group and I would like to consult them on the best way for me to increase my currently small wealth. I can't see myself working as hard when I am older. I need to achieve that financial freedom that would allow me to enjoy myself without feeling heartache.

Digital SLR Camera

I've been using two cameras, one is a light compact digital camera while the other is a larger compact digital camera. I think I have outgrown them already since both cameras have failed to shoot what I need when I need. Yup, I definitely need a new camera. A professional camera.

My friend told me that the only brands I should look at are Nikon and Canon. My friend just bought a Nikon D3100 himself at RM1900 body only. On the other hand, another friend owns a Canon D60. I didn't ask him how much he paid for it but I am dying to test out.

Or maybe, as a first time DSLR user, I should just borrow a friend's one to learn how to handle it before buying my own? As you know, technology moves so fast, it is not viable to buy. LOL
