You know how people would say that charity begins at home and if you have your home taken care of, then you can take care of other things outside of it?
My mother has this theory that the reason her children are not so well educated is because her parents and she and her husband, our father, did not do charity at schools. You know schools sometimes would want funds to buy new equipment or classroom furniture and the teachers would approach parents to donate to the upgrading of the school. Well, they never approached my parents because we were not well to do or prominent people in the city.
Next time, when I have children, I am going t make sure that I participate in and support their charity drives. No, I am not being superstitious like my mother but I think that instead of searching for a just any charitable organization to be involved in, it is better to get involved in one that we have an association with.
