Vehicle Tracking For Public Transportation

My friend, whose family owns one of the largest trailer/lorry transportation businesses in Penang, told me that they have upgraded their operations to include vehicle tracking by GPS. Well, isn’t it high time already?

He told me that with a few hundred vehicles in his fleet and growing, despite the rise in diesel, there was no way they could track all their vehicles from the headquarters anymore and the telephone was no longer viable.

Using the latest GPS tracker devices, a small group of dedicated staff could monitor all vehicles on the road every minute of its trip. This would check the drivers, save on fuel and time and also speeding tickets! Moist importantly, there is a significant reduction in accidents since drivers no longer dare to speed.

Actually, vehicle tracking is not something new in Malaysia and I think that vehicle tracking devices could be the solution to all those bus accidents that we read about in the papers every other day. Once a bus driver knows that there are eyes watching his driving, even though it’s just a small moving dot on the screen, he would be more careful and reckless bus drivers would be a thing of the past. Well, if only I could bring up my proposal to the higher authorities!
