Have you heard of SafeSax? It is an ultra unconventional fashion brand name that took me by surprise. You would be surprised too if you saw how popular their tote bags are! Their range of bags is actually clear vinyl bags with small pockets on both sides of the bags with a colorful condom in each pocket displayed for the world to see. They also have one similar bag but do not come with condoms but you are supposed to fill it up with whatever you like in each small pocket. You could even buy your own condoms and stuff them in!
Right now, I have not seen anyone carrying such a bag over here but since these bags carry a strong message to practise safe sex and part of the proceeds from sale of SafeSax bags go towards charitable or non-profit organizations that champion AIDS education and prevention, I believe that soon, the SafeSax bag will land on our shores too!
I think that SafeSax has taken a bold step with their fashionable bags to force us to face our sexuality and to be proactive in keeping the world informed that AIDS is a very deadly disease that has to be curbed right here and now.
Faced with bags like these in the streets, it is hard for us not to link condoms with sex and safe sex.
