Our family friends will be going to the United States next year right after Chinese New Year. Their daughter will be having her second child then so these parents will be going to see their grandchildren and at the same time help around the home.
My sister is friends with the daughter and these friends have asked if my mother would like to go along. These folks can't speak English so having my mother around would be a bonus. My sister says that there are a few stops which require them to switch planes and it would be difficult for someone who does not know English at all.
This couple has already bought two-way plane tickets at MYR5000+ per person. It's a little expensive because it's a tour package. If my mother were to go along with them, it means that my mother will also have to pay MYR5000+ for her tickets.
I have been thinking if I should send her over to my sister's place. After all, it has been eight years since my sister left home. Since my father will not go, if I were to sponsor half my mother's trip and my sister sponsors half, I would still have to fork out at least RM3000.
I am not sure if I could afford that. I mean, I do have the funds but my income is so irregular that I keep thinking that if I have used this money, it equals to ONE month of household expenses, which means that I need to bring in double what I am bringing in now to cover for her trip.
Hhmm I really don't know. I am so undecided. I still haven't discussed this with my sister yet. She is the one who settled down there and I think she should be the one to bear our mother's trip, right?
