.... mobile phones in school?
Recently there were two cases where school children have been circulating mobile videos of sexual acts of students; one case happened in Pekan, Pahang and another in Sarawak.
It actually is a good idea to provide each child with a handphone seeing how dangerous the world is now but when the misuse the device, it is time to check the rules. How many Tammys does Malaysia want to produce?
I remember when I was in school, we had very strict rules to abide by. We had to wear petticoats, braid our hair if it's long or keep it above the collar if we kept it short and many other rules but those did not kill us.
So I think that if students do not know what a handphone is for (definitely not for filming lewd acts), then ban it by all means. I don't even know how students could concentrate on their studies if they are busy texting each other.
While I know that there are some schools which allow the use of handphones only between classes and these phones should be locked in the classroom cabinet, I know of quite a few students who LOST their handphones in school.
Now, why would schools make students worry over something like the safekeeping of mobile phones? We survived using the school public phone or the office phone in an emergency. So could students in this era, right?
