My friend, Evon, plans to start a home business next year, following the birth of her second child. She does not see how she could be employed so it is better to venture into her own business which would allow her time flexibility.
She asked me for my input in the marketing aspect of her handcrafted jewelry business but I could not offer her any insight as I too do not have experience in her niche. However, I did tell her that it is best to start with a good foundation, especially in her branding. You see, some people think that handcrafted jewelry should not be too expensive since they are handmade but it is because of this that they are always priced higher than mass produced costume jewelry.
Because of this, Evon is best to consult with a branding agency which would be able to guide her on how to brand her product in an appropriate way that would befit the class exuded by her pieces of handcrafted jewelry.
Evon was a little reluctant as she is not confident that her business would take off successfully but I told her that this would be a small investment where she would be able to enjoy long term benefits. What do you say?
