I had the opportunity to chat with my sister last night. With 13 - 14 hour difference, such an opportunity is rare.
My sister told me that her employer is planning a summer retreat for the staff to the French countryside. Of course, everyone is very excited. My sister has always told me that her employer is a slave driver but she knows to reward everyone in the form of dinners, holidays, cash vouchers, retirement fund and jewelry.
My sister has been given the task to arrange this group holiday. She has a free hand to plan as long as it is within budget. My sister is slightly intimated by the heavy responsibility. If things do not work out as planned, she would not know how to face her colleagues! I certainly do not envy her position right now!
She is a little confused with where to go. She has no contact in France and has to depend heavily on the internet. Some of her colleagues told her to check out luxurious farmhouses in Morbihan but she is afraid that it would suck her budget. They did say "luxurious"!
I told her that perhaps she could rent one of those large holiday villas in Orne. I have read glowing reviews from holiday-makers and thought that it would provide them with an authentic experience in the French countryside.
However, my sister says that if there is a private chateaux to rent in Perigord Pourpre, it would be the perfect French holiday. How much more French can a holiday be living in a private chateaux?
