The other day, at a meeting in our company, we almost had an argument. You see, although some people are holding high posts in the company, they do not know how or even care to save money for the company. The management wanted to purchase new POS equipment but I mentioned that it would save the company a considerable amount of money buying used point of sale equipment. These items have been refurbished and there's still life to them but the thing is they save costs and are cheap to maintain too.
Every company should maximize on their resources and not simply spend money on new equipment even though the company has a large budget. In the first place, our IBM pos equipment was bought new but it was neglected and never serviced. I find that this is wrong and told them so.
However, being the low man on the totem pole, they told me that their decision is final. I care for the company's financial health even though I am just another employee there. I told them about the very successful company, Vision POS, and their business offering POS solutions. Perhaps they will listen to me and get some refurbished NCR point of sale from them, for example.
