I am sure you have read my post about the personalized news ranking portal called Thoof some time back where I wondered aloud how Thoof got its name.
Unfortunately, until today, I have no idea but I recall a conversation with my friend when I consulted him on what domain name I should register for my new personal blog. He told me not to use my real name but to use a neutral name saying that nobody actually knows what Google or Yahoo is but now they have their own brand name and identity because of its uniqueness.
Thoof to me is the sound of horses' hooves pounding as they run fast and bring us the news. I should know about horse racing because I live near the race course and have even betted on races. Listening to the pounding hooves of the horses as they race to the finishing line, THOOF THOOF THOOOOFFF is really adrenaline pumping especially for 100 meter races where you can't even blink your eyes for a second.
In a sense, the sound of pounding hooves as adopted by this personalized news portal Thoof is very apt, seeing how fast news travel and at the same time how fast we forget today's news tomorrow as there will be more and more interesting stories vying for our attention.
We could however, still determine the popularity of our little piece of news story by placing a ThoofRank badge at the end of our post when we submit our story to Thoof. This badge will only be given to registered members so make sure you are registered and logged in before submitting your post so that you will get the ThoofRank badge. Registration is free, so why not, why wait?
