If you are local, you probably know of the Petronas Merdeka contest where we have to pump MYR20 worth of Petronas petrol/diesel to gain a chance at the contest to win a car. And you would also know of the Esso contest where they are giving away 260 units of Nokia navigator.
All along we have been pumping Shell diesel because diesel engines are sensitive and my father says Shell has the best quality for his engine. And then earlier this year from January to April, we switched to Petronas because they were giving away a car a month or something like that, among other prizes, which we did not even win a small prize.
Now that Petronas has a Merdeka contest, we also pump Petronas again. However, my father said he wants to pump Esso to try to win the Nokia navigator. I said don't want because a car is worth more than a phone, right? So why shoot at a prize of lesser value?
He kept insisting so I applied for the Smiles Card. Before I filled out the form, I asked the staff at the counter if there is a minimum per entry but he said no. He said they never write.
So after filling out the form and paying for MYR20 worth of diesel, the staff gave me my welcome kit and from the brochure, I saw that it is MYR50 per entry! WTF???
If pumping MYR50 can only get one entry into the Nokia navigator contest, I might as well pump MYR20 X 2 to get two entries into the Petronas contest and stand a chance to win a car. GGGrrrr
For one, my father does not even like Nokia. He is a Motorola fan. Secondly, he is too old to know how to use a navigator. Thirdly, I already entered him into two Nokia smart phone contests and still not enough? And no, this is not the Astro contest because Astro did not send me the form along with the bill. Maybe they don't want new customer to benefit :-(
Why my father does not know how to maximize his chances wan???
