Giving Thanks

Yesterday was Thanksgiving Day, well, at least it was in the United States. As soon as it was past midnight, my friend called me up and asked me if I had turkey yet.

Hello, where got people in the world eat turkey at that ungodly hour wan? Even if I celebrated, I also will have turkey at a saner hour, like dinner time lah.

So anyway, although I do not celebrate Thanksgiving, I do take a bit of time off to reflect on the things that has happened to me in the past year, and give thanks for the good things in life, while trying to shrug off the bad things as God's test.

It is said that the poorest person in the United States is many times more wealthy than 80% of the rest of the world. So maybe the poorest person in Malaysia is many times more wealthy than, let's say, 50% of the rest of the world. Can ah?

I don't know how true this is, but riches in life isn't only measured by how full our bank account is.

Thanksgiving is a day I take a moment off to be thankful of what I have, and not think of or pine for what I lack.

Give thanks and we will see a whole new world that is around us everyday.

That's because midnight in Malaysia is around noon in the eastern seaboard. Plus, Thanksgiving (also referred to as Turkey Day by some people), is meant to celebrate the Puritans crossing over to the States and settling down alongside the native indians.

Hi edrei,

Thanks for your comment.

Yes, we know about the time difference. Our friendship is not easy to maintain.

Thanksgiving is very commercialised in the West.
