No thanks to the horrible series of earthquakes with 7.9 and 8.2 magnitude quakes and after shocks hitting parts of Indonesia this evening the Malaysian Meteorological Department has advised people in Perlis, Kedah, Perak and Penang to move away from beaches.
I wonder if there will be another tsunami hitting our shores. Hopefully not!
A few years ago, my friend who lived in Penang, even recorded a video of how the sea water just rose up and engulfed almost everything. My friend was having his dinner at one of the stalls near the beach and had the chance to record the video, with audio, using this digital camera. It was so scary that he nearly dropped his camera, too.
After that unfortunate incident, his mother was so worried that he told my friend to move away from Penang. They are all from Ipoh, you see, so my friend, being the good son, looked for a job elsewhere and is now working in KL. So if there is a tsunami hitting Penang, my friend's mother will say, "See, mothers know best!"
