NST ran a report about a 22-year-old woman who lost RM120,000 in an online scam where she believed an email addressed to her that she had won a UK National Lottery. I mean, come on, don't we all receive such an email and many times too? How could someone believe it when she did not even bet in the first place?
RM120K is a lot of money and to lose so much only to realize that she has been scammed, it's a little late, isn't it? But I have to take my hat off to her for making a police report and letting the world know about such a fraud case so that other people will not fall victim to it.
The internet is a highly useful and informative medium but one must have a very clear mind using it. There are lots of people trying to take advantage of others either by via email like this woman's case, bogus websites, fake friendship, etc.
