I finally bought a DiGi prepaid SIM paid last evening with a prefix of 010. I actually wanted to buy it earlier but all the mobile phone shops were closed for the Chinese New Year. I bought it in the first instance I could.
Since this is a new registration, I am automatically subscribed to the "Hit RM1" package whereby hitting RM1 on any day would qualify me for cheaper rates for voice call and text messages. How awesome is that? I don't know yet.
Anyway, I noted that there is 3G signal in my residential area in Ipoh. I had to call up DiGi customer service at 016-2211800 to ask them to activate my 3G service as well as send a settings request to DiGi by SMS at 2000 with the message SETUP. I received a return text that said that they couldn't recognise my phone and I had to send in another message with the model of my phone, "SETUP E61i" and then i received the configuration settings almost instantly.
Adding DiGi numbers to my list of Friends and Family, I only have to pay 1 sen per SMS now. Of course, this isn't the cheapest rate in the market and unfortunately, I don't have many people in my contact list who are using DiGi too.
Well, this line is just my spare line. I still have to figure out what to do with my Celcom voice and data subscriptions. SIGH!
