Like the rest of the pop world, I am still in shock over the sudden death of Stephen Gately yesterday. While like Michael Jackson, I am not a huge fan of him, I did grow up listening to boybands, one of them being Boyzone, just like I grew up in the 1980s listening to Michael Jackson.
I remember the emergence of Boyzone, along with the likes of Bros, New Kids On The Block, Take That and Westlife. And then subsequently, there were newer boybands like Blue.
At this point, we still have no idea how he died and under what circumstances but the fact is that the world has lost yet another talented entertainer. Rest in peace, Stephen Gately. You will be missed.
Update: Stephen Gately is said to have died from choking on his own vomit.
