I used to follow tennis diligently during the days of Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi but have stopped watching these past few years. No, I did not lose interest but just could not afford the time to sit in front of the TV for a few hours watching two men hitting the tennis ball.
Anyway, being a tennis fan, I cannot not mention that Roger Federer is now the best tennis player of our times, upping Pete Sampras' record of 14th Grand Slam titles with a record breaking Grand Slam win at the just concluded Wimbledon. Man, that must be some kind of feeling he's going through, to be the best at the game.Image: Getty Images In addition, Roger Federer is an all-rounder, having won all the Grand Slam titles on different courts and he won his fifteen titles in half the time it took for Pete Sampras to bag his 14 titles.
Of course, one could say that there is no Andre Agassi now to block him but then Roger Federer is undisputedly the hero of our day.
