So The Gem of Life FINALLY concluded last night. Heh... the final episode was totally lame. One would think that after 81 long episodes, the series would end with a BANG! but that was not the case. Anyway, I don't take this to heart. Just watch for what it's worth.
The new TVB drama that will be replacing this slot occupied by Gem of Life for 17 weeks will be E.U. (Emergency Unit) - 學警狙擊. This is a 30 episode police/crime/action/revenge drama. From what I understand, Emergency Unit, which is also known as The Academy Full Throttle, is a sequel to The Academy & On the First Beat. I didn't watch either The Academy or On the First Beat.

I can’t read Chinese and the only actress I recognize from this list is Kathy Chow. It has been years since I have watched her. I still remember what an awkward actress she was when she was a rookie.
The other drama that is being aired, I understand, is a period drama and I try to avoid that as much as possible. This means that it would be either E.U. or some older TVB dramas or Korean dramas. Hhmmm let's see.

I watched 3 episodes of this already. It is very good. I stopped watching TVB ever since Gem of Life because I felt that it was too long.
Does anyone have any information about Elanne Kong? I can't seem to find much.

I also just watched the first 3 episodes and will watch up till episode 5 over the weekend.
I could only recognize Kathy Chow and Michael Miu, the senior cops and the newspaper girl in Gem of Life. She's now a lady cop.
The rest of the actors are new to me. Who is Elanne Kong? :)

梁嘉琪 - this girl, is soooooo freaking annoying in this drama.... even her personality shes like annoying... so many parts of the drama where I literally just wanted to stop watching cause shes so annoying, her acting is like thumbs way down... WAY down.. and her constant annoying voice is so high pitched and nasally...and her character constantly is selfish and stubborn... oi... the drama gets really stupid near the end and predictable all throughout - her character does NOTHING to improve the drama. Sorry this seems so harsh but it was just annoying, i've pretty much stopped watching now.
I agree. I was annoyed by her "breathlessness" but then it was very fitting as she was supposed to be astmatic.
I watch a little here and there of The Academy and On the First Beat. I was watching a little of EU...an man, I really can't stand Joey. I never liked her in acting; she should just stick to singing.
I've just finished watching this series and it was the first time I heard of Elanne Kong. I didn't like her at all and thought that she was awful. Her acting wasn't particularly good and her voice really "got to me" and I just hate seeing a girl chasing a boy. Call me old fashioned if you like but I still like the other way around. Apart from her, the whole series was good. Of course some parts are very far fetched but there again, you have to say to yourself that its only a story. I must admit that I was very sad that Laughing died because he turned out to be a cop. I thought Michael Tse's acting was great and he should be in the A list of actors in future. There has to be a follow-up to this since he didn't die afterall.....
