So we are already down by 32 episodes and there are still another 50 to go. FIFTY!!! That’s ten weeks more and then the drama will be over. I’m missing looking forward to it every weekday already. LOL
Anyway, even after 32 episodes, I have to say that I still do not like the Gem of Life opening theme by Shirley Kwan. Yes, I did try to listen to it over and over again but no, it’s just not my cup of tea. Perhaps it’s the deep female voice of hers or maybe it’s the pace of the song. I dunno. I just don’t “feel” it.
In any case, I would still like to have the soundtrack album of The Gem of Life in my collection. There are a few tracks in the drama that I like. I like the way that each couple had their own music, just like the previous TVB dramas that I watched recently and the Korean dramas. Many Korean drama soundtracks remain my favourite songs even after I have forgotten how the storyline went!
I stopped watching TVB for many years, by the way, and only picked it up again in recent months but I remember that previously, years ago, they did not place an emphasis on sub-themes for individual couples in the dramas. Now, not only do they have the main theme, the ending theme and sub-themes, TVB also makes it a point to actually promote the actors and allow them enough exposure to make it as singers.
In the Gem of Life, my favourite tracks would have to be the classical piece that is associated with Calvin (Bowie Lam) and the English song which is titled "One and Only" whenever there is a romantic moment between Constance (Gigi Lai) and Terrence (Moses Chan).

The song's in English, and is played in ep. 79, when Will finally reads Elise's email. And it's played again in ep. 82, when Will has flashbacks of him and Elise playing the game show leading him to realizes he needs to go find Elise.
