Did you read the news report that public transportation will increase in January, 2009? If service operators are not allowed to increase their ticket prices, then they will be enforcing a surcharge on each passenger. Either way, it means more money out from our pocket! Apparently, this applies to all forms of road public transportation, including school buses.
You know, suddenly, the RM10 per Ipoh - Kuala Lumpur KTM rail trips don't seem too bad at all, even if one has to endure three hours of bone-shaking experience per trip. Let's just hope that KTM is much improved from the last time that I took a ride with them. After all, it HAS been years.
Actually, I do not see the need to increase ticket prices, especially not at this point in time now that world price for crude oil seems to have stabilized at slightly below US$70 per barrel. Wonder what excuses public transport operators came up with to receive the go-ahead.
