Did you read the news release about the couple who slapped each other thinking they were in a dream for winning RM20 million through Toto jackpot? I don't know about you but it seems to me that each time the economy seems desperate, we get to read news like that of a miracle windfall. It's as if Toto is reminding us that if we despair financially, there's nothing to worry about. There's Toto to fall back on! If only winning it is so easy.
I think that winning lottery is like "kutu" without guarantee. You need to subscribe to it diligently every draw, putting in a small investment like RM50 or RM100 and then when the time is ripe, your "kutu" matures and you get to collect all the money that you have accumulated all these years, plus interest.
But like I said, this is a no-guarantee "kutu". There are many people who would diligently put in some money without fail a few times a few times a week and yet never see the money at all even till they day they die.
A press release like this would be able to reach out to more people if a photo of the winner is published, just like the lotteries in America, where the winner MUST take a photo accepting the mock cheque.
This reminds me of the case where a young man in Israel won a lottery and he had to cover his face with a paper bag over his head with two small holes cut out for his eyes when he went to collect his prize money.
