I was going through today's The Star online just now and the article on Secret Recipe's offer of job opportunities to senior citizens caught my eye. I think that it's highly commendable of them to run a recruitment drive specifically for senior citizens and retirees so that they could rejoin the work force.

I know that there are many senior people who would gladly work and that many are still very healthy and have much to offer still when they are forced to retire from their jobs at 55 or 56 years of age. However, once retired, it's not easy to look for a new job.

My aunt, a retired teacher, has been trying to look for a job. She still has a college-age son to support and although there is an older daughter who is working, she is leading her own life and refused to support her younger brother financially because "he is not my son." What f@rked up, selfish mindset she has, right? Go to university for what?

I am going to let her know about this job opportunity with Secret Recipe. Perhaps she already knows too since she reads The Star. There are two Secret Recipe outlets in Ipoh but I wonder if these job openings are only for their headquarters.
