If you have been following my blog, you would know that our house had been trespassed about three times over the past few years. Well, luckily we had our doors locked but still, our sense of security had been breached.
A friend told me that he is installing a security system at home He said that I could also do that as long as I have internet broadband at home, which I have, but I did not pursue the matter because I thought that it would be a costly set up. My friend did not tell me how much he spent but his house is a double story house while mine is only a single storey terrace house, so I think there would be a vast difference when it comes to cost.
During the previous PC Fair, though, I had the chance to check out the various home security systems and I find that it's pretty cost effective too. We only have to pay approximately RM2500 for the installation and equipment and there is no annual fee too, except for the bill that we are already paying for broadband internet subscription or 3G service, if we wanted to view the camera(s) from our mobile phone.
I think that it's really worth considering but at this time, I dare not create more expenditure. Some people told me that it's because of the weaker economy that spurs more robberies and this is the time when I need to install security cameras the most.

I think security cameras offer a lot of benefits, however not all systems are right for all applications. What works well for your friend, may not be right for you. I recommend you 1)sit down and write your goals for a security camera, 2)set your budget, 3)do some research to find a company that offers a system to meet your specific goals and 4)work with a professional to ensure you get the best value for your investment. With cameras, you need to keep in mind light, lens and resolution. Also, never purchase any security equipment without a full six-month money back guarantee. This ensure you do get a system that meets your goals.
