I read with concern a report on Malay Mail today, of how dog-catchers in Sepang kidnapped a domesticated dog in his own compound and beaten to death. We have always been against the catching of stray dogs unless they are aggressive. Even so, we also oppose the use of real guns in catching these stray dogs. Stray dogs are just dogs without homes for the time being. Give them a home and this problem will be greatly reduced. That's why awareness and education are so important.
But meanwhile, we have a dog-catching contract company like Wet-Fine Sdn. Bhd. who goes into other people's property to abduct a dog with an owner. Is that barbaric to the extreme? And to think that there were neighbours who witnessed that abduction. Why did they not raise an alarm while it was happening? They were totally heartless just the same.
Let the brutal death of Turbo force the authorities into taking firm action in changing the way that this issue with stray dogs are handled. Kidnapping them or shooting at them in their own home is certainly a criminal offence! The people involved should be punished!
