IT Savvy Doctors

We used to think that doctors are rather behind in internet technology, but I think that they are catching up. They have to! My friend, Bryan, is a doctor who is attached with a public hospital where hours are long and that means that he does not have much time to research on new medical discoveries, advancements or drugs.

However, a few months ago, I showed him my smart phone and he was hooked. He bought one and subscribed to a data plan and is now online all the time!

He says that the best thing is that he could check up on illnesses and drug reactions on his smart phone wherever he is. As a general practitioner, people with all sorts of illnesses will go to him first before being referred to a specialist. There would be a person suffering from chronic atrial fibrillation coming in one minute and a sufferer of osteo-arthritis the next. So it is pretty tricky and a doctor can’t afford any lapses in judgment. You can imagine how useful an ever ready and up-to-date medical encyclopedia is!
