Budget 2009

I meant to write about the Badget 2009 sooner but one thing came up after another that I did not have the chance. Well, I don't know about you guys but it seems to me that year after year, the Budget is the "best ever", "biggest ever", the "people's Budget" blah blah blah.

This year is no different. While I do not see any massive benefit to me personally, I hope that diesel engines will pay the same road tax as petrol engines. This would probably save me more than RM1000 a year in road tax alone! Of course, I would have hoped for lower diesel price as well but I will take the lower road tax for diesel engine for now.

Also, I do not see the point of a full rebate for household electric bills under RM20. I tell you, households with less than RM20 in monthly bills do not mean that these are poor families. This just means that these families are not using as much electricity as other households. Perhaps households like these only have one person staying in. Perhaps this family has gone overseas for a vacation. I really do not see the logic of this and the benefit this would have on the general masses.

It would have been more beneficial to all Raykat if each household gets a certain percentage off their electricity bill. Other than these two issues, I do not see any massive changes. What about you?

Hi Imelda,

Thanks for your input. Malaysia should have cheaper petrol because we are an oil & gas producing country.

I also do not see any benefits for the middle-income group... and the diesel thingy does not apply to me! So, no difference at all!
