The other day, I added extra memory to my computer and I told a friend about it. Earlier, he laughed at me still using 512MB of RAM only but hey, when I bought this desktop computer, RAM was expensive, you know? And I did not bother upgrading my hardware until I could no longer stand the sluggishness. LOL
So I told my friend and he said that I must not combine a 256MB of RAM with a 1Gig RAM... hhhmmm is that true? He said that they would be incompatible and may render BOTH unusable. Really ah?
My laptop is also like this, if memory serves me right. 1Gig + 2Gig... and the technicians never mentioned anything about having then in sync like 256MB + 256MB, 512MB + 512MB and 1GB + 1GB.
Anyway, he told me that I should just remove the 256MB of RAM which I did. Let's see if there is any improvement.

been here reading..
If your ram is call the DDR2. Is true that your ram capacity are not same for both stick, it will cause incompatible. Incompatible, thus unable to achieve optimal performance.
Oh I see. Thanks for your clarification.
My RAM is DDR 1. My desktop was purchased 2.5 years ago.
However, my laptop, purchased 2.5 months ago, should be DDR 2, right? Means it's not optimum now with 1G + 2G...
Hmm.. just curious, still having issues with your desktop puter?
Hi eibla,
Right now, no issue. Crosses fingers and toes!
Streamyx is still "sick" though!
