You probably have read about my experience with GPS when I got lost in my own city and my friend had to use his GPS to backtrack our route to the city. And there was another time when this same friend had to send me home and he had to track his route to enable him to get back out from my residential area which he is totally unfamiliar with since he is from out of town.
Actually, these are only two of the uses of the GPS. This friend, a gadget freak, has started to place his GPS tracks on Google maps to benefit everyone.
With the numerous long distance bus accidents in the country, I am thinking that GPS should be fitted into every bus so that each and every bus could be tracked. Now, you may think that certainly a bus can't get lost..... but the purpose of tracking a bus via GPS is to stop bus drivers from speeding. When a bus is tracked, headquarters will know how fast a bus is being driven from Point A to Point B and sometimes, buses are drove at speeds that are really not humanly possible!
I believe that once bus drivers realize that they could lose their job if they continue to exceed the stipulated speed limit, they would mend their ways and in the process, we do not have to add busloads of numbers in the accident statistics.
Today, I thought of this issue after I came across the website of GTX Corp which offers human tracking services as well. Now, I think that this is great to be used on people with Alzheimer’s Disease but that’s another story for another day!
