Last evening, the Sultan of Perak, in His wisdom, has given consent to Pasir Panjang State Assembly Person and Perak PAS Secretary, Mohamad Nizar Jamaludin to be the Perak Menteri Besar for the new term and in a groundbreaking historical move, there will be a Deputy Menteri Besar I and Deputy Menteri Besar II.
The post of the Deputy Menteri Besar I will be held by DAP Perak Chief, Ngeh Koo Ham while Deputy Menteri Besar II will most probably be an Indian State Assembly Person from Pari KeADILan Rakyat.
I have faith in the new State Government that the rights and needs of the Rakyat from all races and religions will be met and that no one is sidelined because of their skin colour or belief.
Although most of us non-Muslims in the West Coast are apprehensive to have a PAS member head the State Government, as long as Hudud Laws and extreme Islamic ways are not applied to the State, particularly to non-Muslim, we should be fine. It does not help that we are bombarded with visuals of rowdy young men from Kelantan and Terengganu. Bear in mind that the State is multi-racial with an almost equal distribution of the various major races hence an implementation of Hudud Laws would be a bad move.
I understand the dilemma that DAP faces. On one hand, they have vehemently denied that they are in a pact with PAS but on the other hand, they do need PAS to form a lose coalition to form an Alternative State Government. By not putting their foot down right now, they could lose votes from the Chinese Community in the next General Elections.
On the other hand, boycotting the swearing in of the new Perak Menteri Besar later today would be political suicide for them. We, the voters, shall see how the new State Government performs and then decide who should administer the State in the following term.

Protest all you want but times of boycotting due to dissatisfaction are over. How can you work in a coalition that does not even respect the installation of the 'leadership'? By attending the installation, it only shows maturity and respect for the Sultan and the constitution!
