As I become older, I am becoming increasingly interested in health issues. I find myself reading health articles which I never did before. Also, my parents are now in the senior club and it worries me that illness may strike them anytime. Of course, my goal is to seek knowledge in improving our lifestyle so that not only do we live longer but healthier too. Health is, as the saying goes, WEALTH. Oft times we take it for granted and only realize its importance when we fall ill.
Did you know that heart disease is the number one killer in America? I believe it is also the number one killer in Malaysia and many other countries too. I once read that the pain of a heart attack is only second behind childbirth and it is something we do not wish on even our worst enemies.
Yesterday, I was told of a campaign that Campbell's is involved in that educates women on the importance of heart health. Heart disease, though deadly, could be prevented and I know that it starts with education and lifestyle.
Campbell's, together with the award winning singer Toni Braxton and fashion designer Lisa Perry, will raise funds for the American Heart Association's Go Red For Women. Lisa Perry has created three dresses in conjunction with this campaign and one of these dresses is to be worn by Toni Braxton at the Woman's Day Red Dress Awards, kicking off American Heart Month which is celebrated in the month of February annually.
I was surprised to learn that Toni herself was diagnosed with heart disease when she was in her thirties. See, even when one is suffers from heart disease, it is not the end. It could be cured, but like I mentioned, it takes education. Read about Toni's story by clicking on this button badge.
As a woman and as a blogger, I feel that I should do my part in helping to spread the message that our heart needs better care and we need to start with a healthier lifestyle and diet. If you feel that you can contribute to the cause, you can blog about this as well and vote for the dress that Toni Braxton should wear at the Woman's Day Red Dress Awards. Watch this video to help you decide better.
