Last night, I watched Old Boy, a lengthy Korean movie, that lasted almost two hours. I tell you, this is the kind of movie that will make one grimace and cringe in horror. This is the kind of movie that will stick to your head forever and frankly, there aren't that many movies that can have this effect on chronic movie goers. One would be surprised that more and more Asian movies are better than Hollywood and other big budget productions. Don't you agree?
I like the change from conventional Korean movies, you know, those soppy romance dramas that make me cry along with them, but most of them are forgettable. I bet many of us will not even remember a typical Korean movie or drama the following month.
However, what I don't really like about this movie is its confusion. I think that the story flow could have been executed better. And even though this is supposedly a movie that would make one's stomach churn and induce vomit, the scenes are not as horrific as My Teacher (To Sir, With Love). I have yet to see any movie top THAT!
If you are into Korean movies but have had enough of tragic romances, this is the one to get your hands on.
