Ok, so I went to bed at 6am for two days in a row. Wake up just before 8am, zombified. It's no surprise that I look like shit once again. My friend told me to ease up and it's not going to do my health any good pushing myself like this but how can I help it?
I used to tell people that we have to work out butts off when we are young, when we have the energy and stamina. Once we grow old, we can't work even if we need to. The spirit may be willing but the physical body may not. So then how are we going to earn our keep?
It is said that you should be not afraid of hard work but you should be afraid of NO work. I saw how desperate a friend became when he was laid off work for ten long months. After drawing a five figure salary for the longest time (he was promoted to General Manager when he was only in his thirties), and then losing his job suddenly, that was a very tough patch for him. Well, he did not have savings so he only has himself to blame. Extreme generosity was a great flaw in his character.
That’s why I told my friend that I CANNOT ease up. I just have t slog on and on and on.
