The other day, I wrote about my girlfriend who runs her online store. Well, she was whining to me that business is bad although she knows that what she is selling is marketable. I think that her sales are great on a platform like eBay where there is a huge membership database and there is always an ever ready pool of browsers who would view her items and place their bid.
On a standalone online store, on the other hand, she is not enjoying the huge database of browsers who would go surfing to her site throughout the day and night. What she is doing right now is marketing he online store through word of mouth.
I think many of us have already advised her on getting the help of a website optimization firm. I have read how effective these companies are in helping ecommerce sites like hers to appear on top of search engine results for relevant competitive keywords. This would help drive traffic to her site and hopefully convert them into customers.
My friend thought that website optimization firms would only deal with large firms but I told her that they do have packages that cater to small and medium-sized businesses as well and would be perfect for her requirements.
Hopefully, she will find some success with them and stop whining :-)
