Suicide

The other day, I wrote the post When Life Is Shitty, well, I found out that it's depression that caused her to take her life but I do not know what caused the depression in the first place.

If you have been reading this blog from the early days, you would remember that I wrote quite a number of posts on people I know who killed themselves, who thought of killing themselves and even one guy who pretended to kill himself. That was grand drama.

I always believe that no matter what hardships God put us through, we have to be mentally strong. Lose our sanity and we lose it all. And there is the saying that when you hit rock bottom, the only way to go is up. Why kill oneself and be out of the game?

I had a friend who was so financially broke that he thought of killing himself. In the end, he managed to climb back up. I wouldn't say that he is financially very well to do now, but he is at least stable and with a job. When he was down, he lost his wife and children and his home. He thought he has lost everything in life but that is a loser's thinking.

I am not condemning the person who committed suicide but I believe that if there was someone close who could help her through the mental blockage, someone she trusts, then she need not end her life this way. By the way, it is against any religion to kill oneself.

A friend of mine told me that a long time ago, he knew a girl who was suffering from depression. That night, she contemplated killing herself. My friend counselled her through the phone the whole night. And then drove over to her house to keep an eye on her the whole day. After that passing phase, she stopped thinking about dying. Yes, it is possible to turn the tide if only there is someone to do it.
