I read on Bernama that KLSE shares are expected to trade lower this coming week while investors wait for the outcome of the meeting by Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) this Tuesday.
As a small time retail investor, I think we have always been waiting for something or other to drop and that is why we always "wait and see". This kind of mentality is very bad because the shorter the time we invest our money, the higher the risk is. I hope that I can shake off this bad habit myself too and be able to tie up money in investments for longer periods of time.
If we are in it for longer term, then we do not have to wait for these events that seem to happen weekly somewhere in the world that could affect our poor KLSE trading activities and performance *sigh*
With capital that we can set aside comfortably for long term, as long as we have our stocks at a relatively low price then we can ride the tide and not be personally affected. One thing to note is that the prices WILL always go up. The question is, "WHEN?" And to win the game, we have to withstand the onslaught of external factors and wait till the price floats up AGAIN.
Of course, this is easier said than done, but it could be done as long as you Buy low and have enough staying power! I am trying to build up my "staying power" *sigh*
