Recently, my sister was sick and had to see a doctor. Well, in the US, many people try to cure themselves with over the counter medication first and if that does not help, only do they make a doctor's appointment. So, after two weeks of dragging, my sister finally went to the doctor. She paid $20 during the first appointment.
The doctor did some blood tests and ultra sound scan, prescribed some medication and billed my sister $280. This means that the total medical fees came up to be $300. My sister was shocked!
While my sister has medical insurance, she said that the doctor that is in the network is not compatible with her and the medication did not work. She had to change to this doctor who is actually the doctor of my sister's employer.
This doctor is an elderly man and he did not want to take in a new patient but my sister's employer almost begged him to treat my sister. But at such a huge cost! Anyway, thankfully he lived up to his reputation as a good doctor and managed to prescribe the right medicine for my sister. She is well now.
