People who know me are surprised that shortwave is one of my hobbies. I do have a lot of weird hobbies that are actually male oriented. I am not sure why. Perhaps I was a man in my previous life?
Anyway, since the age of the internet, I do not have the chance to indulge in my hobby anymore. For one, I do not have the time anymore and secondly, I can't have the computer switched on if I wanted to tune in to shortwave stations because of interference and my computer is practically switched on the whole day and night. So I do not have the chance to tune in t shortwave anymore.
Well, I still could listen to shortwave stations online but it is not the same and there is no euphoria in discovering a new far-off station.
A few years ago, I got to know a man who is into ham radio full time. Well, it has been my dream to go into ham radio as well but I do not have the time and for ham radio, one has to sit for an exam and apply for a license to operate ham. I where got time??
I told this guy that I guess I will only be able to go into ham radio when I retire. I hope it will be sooner than that!
