Darple is still in beta and registration is free. It says free for students but I tried my luck and even though I have not been a student for a long time, I was still able to register so it is actually FREE FOR ALL.
Although I am not an eBayer, I do now how it works and I just can’t help but to compare the two marketplaces. While eBay is an auction site, so is Darple, but with a twist!
With Darple, I could bid on as many items as I like, whether it is the same item being sold by different Sellers or totally different times. I am actually offering a price to the Seller when I place my price in the bid box. If the Seller is agreeable to my price, then a deal is concluded.
I could also click on the BUY NOW button to buy the item at the Seller's asking price.
What I like is that the Seller would get to see the Buyer's list of offers to various Sellers and for what item. This will pressure the Sellers into making a quicker decision if he should conclude the deal or not at his offered price.
Also, as a Buyer, although I may have placed multiple bids, once a deal is concluded, all my other bids through the same bidset will be retracted and void. This ensures that I do not end up buying the same item from various buyers.
If the workings of Darple sound confusing to you, once you check the site out and try bidding on something, you will understand how the system works. I tell you, it is way better than what eBay and its clones have!

Darple - Auction Site With A Twist
My good friend is a Seller on eBay and I have heard her complain numerous times of the problems she faced. Honestly, that turned me off eBay for good. However, since I do want to try to sell some items online, I went looking for a better alternative, which brought me to Darple.
