Sometime back, I read this post. It made me think of a friend of mine, whose mother suddenly passed away on his birthday.
He was still in primary school then. He was only told about it when he returned from school. Imagine the shock.
He's now almost 40 years old and the memory is still so fresh in his mind that he can never bring himself to celebrate his birthday.
I don't even know if I should wish him "Happy Birthday" or get him a gift since it's always his mother's death anniversary.
I pity him for having to carry this burden throughout his life.
